Default Wed Tuna on Xta-Sea / Depoe

Hi All, today was the day we've been waiting for. Had the privilege of being Marty's only crew today. Ended up with 42 tuna. Started about 24 nm 260 deg from Depoe, 58.8 to 59.2 deg water. Slow pick between 6:45 and about 11. Had 15 in the box on the inside; mostly on clones & zukes (traps wouldn't get bit). Diamondside / Chris had about 12 to 15 I believe, about 1 1/2 to 2 miles SE of us. WP had a few. So we & WP took off towards the 125 / 45. Stopped short when eagle eye Marty saw 2 jumpers. Dropped in & they went pretty much wide open for the next couple of hours. Fish traps got munched! Couldn't keep the 30 & 40 lb rigs in the water. Doubles, triples, and one quadrouple. We'd be fighting a fish, look down, and see 6 / 8 albies cruising around. Couldn't get them to bite the traps while drifting though. They liked a slow troll (4 - 5 knots). Clear blue water, 61.4 to 62 degrees. Numbers for the outside spot:

44.55.18
24.49.72

I'm not sure how many WP ended up with, but it was all they wanted. We both had to leave them biting. Will post a few pictures later. Go get 'em!!!

Edit: the pics!!

Flat A** Calm...where was everybody?? Only a few i-fishers @ Depoe today...

The bend really is Marty's friend...

Marty with two of his favorite things in his hands...

Gin-clear-blue water on the outside. You'd see your fish 30 feet down...

Another streaker...

When the gaff hits that sweet spot, this is what happens...

After a triple...

The full monty...

Felt wrong to leave biting tuna but we ran short of ice and cooler space at 24. Three rods all clones so we were a little slower than Mark and Marty. Great day with a flat sea. I am pumped for tomorrow. Thanks Mark for sharing and all the help you offered. I am not envious of your counts...we didn't get ours done until after 1900 and still had to drive to Lebanon for the night and back in the morning! The canning has begun! See some of you tomorrow....I think I am heading back to that spot and see what shakes.

By the way, it was great having WP as company out there. Thanks for running with us, Dave! Once in the bite, we were within a few hundred yards of each other most of the time. Several times, both hooked up, we were 50 yards apart. I have just got to get a digital cam with zoom lens! This doesn't quite cut it:
