We were up north and my buddy shot a nice 4x4 white tail, old school ball and patch. I did not see any other animals hanging in any camp we drove by, it was pretty wet.

I went scouting on Monday and came across 4 different grouse. Headed back Saturday-Monday, I will keep you posted. If nothing else it's looking like it could be a great grouse season. FF

It went well for our group!
We took 3 bucks for the six of us, my buddy Jeremy started it off with this nice 26" 4x5 muley at 7:30am, then at 2:00 pm, his son Cole tagged a nice 3x3 from 200 yards on the run! Awesome shot! I ended up with a basket rack 4x4 right at last light, it was with 3 other bucks but they were running and this one stopped to look back! MISTAKE!!! My wife missed a nice 4x4 whitetail at 7:30am Sunday, DANG! She was hot!
Real good time with friends and family!!!!!!

Opening weekend was a bust for our group. We went 0 for 4. We had shots on a spike and small forked but didn't want to take a questionable shot on the forky and spikes are not legal in our unit. With the moon cycle it seemed like every deer we saw was beded down. We averaged about 12 does a day last year and were lucky to see 2 a day this year. Hope others did better. Forgot to add, 1 grouse harvested and 2 others could have been. FF

Three for three for us! One very nice whitetail buck and a couple of mule deer does! Is nice to have the doe tags ready in the wings when the bucks dont show up!

How many other shots were fired at that 4x5 26" buck?? Had a buddy shoot one opening morning and it went over a hill and WWIII started up on it..... He was bummed that so many people would fight over an animal... I'm sure it's not the same buck but a very similar story to opening morning....

You weren't hunting the Dayton unit were ya?

Took a 150lb Doe the 22 0f Sept. No elk yet waiting for late bow. Took the doe in unit 520 Stalked her for 350 yds shot her in the spine at 20 yds and she dropped and never moved. Was going to keep the spine and broad head but it fell apart when I cut her up. She sure is eating good!

I only had two days to hunt this season, last Friday and Saturday. I headed over to the Goldendale area with a friend and we both managed 3X3's (plus eye guards). I passed up one little 3 point about 15 minutes into hunting and saw a lot of deer. Neither of the bucks were huge, but with only 2 days to hunt I am more than happy.

Brother in law got this nice forky at about 8:00am Saturday morning in Southwest WA Cascades. Took him half an hour to put horns on him at 250 yards. Once he put forks on him he got all shaky and missed the first shot. Dumb buck didn't even flinch. Next shot was dead nuts and the buck did 2 back flips down the hill. The drag was about 1/3 mile. Finally our camp got a buck. We were starting to think all the bucks packed up and moved east. FF

Thanks for posting. I went back out on Halloween, no luck. All I'm saying is that it's not as easy as you guys make it out to be. If I don't get one late buck it will be 2 years in a row. From this thread it would seem like I'm the only one who hasn't gotten one yet. Oh well I guess it's time to go elk hunting. Good luck, FF
