Blazers !!!!
I went to the game tonight....amazing for a pre-season game. Started out a little slow but the Blazers turned it on big...can you say "Chalupa"?
Greg Oden played pretty good....got his blocks...dunks and free throws...his conditioning is a bit off He was huffing and puffing pretty good for a while ......everyone showed promise in this blow-out win over Sacramento but the most outstanding performance goes to Rudy Fernandez....I was in AWE, his ball handling skills are amazing. He gave up lobs to Webster....between the legs of a defender assist to LaMarcus which ended up in a DUNK ! He was also on the recieving end....one lob dunk from Sergio and another from Sergio that he jumped under the rim and spun off the glass for two ! Can't wait for tomorrow's game !! Wow....wait...you'll see, Rudy is unbelievable
Go Blazers !!!

Re: Blazers !!!!
Are we still in the building years or do we have a team that can really compete this year? How far can they go provided injuries don't derail the team?

I think we are officially past the building years, now it's just getting a bit of playing time together and rocking out.=)

Re: Blazers !!!!
Best game I've seen played by ANY team...I can't wait to see them go up against LA, Boston. These kids might pretty much be there. Nate not only has a great group of starters, I'd venture to say he has a bench that's 2 deep. If the other leading teams remain the same as last year, most of them have 2, maybe 3, good players and that's it. We have talent beyond...if nothing else, we'll just wear em out. Barring injuries, this should be an amazing year.

Re: Blazers !!!!
I went to the game last night as well, and Rudy really is special. He is so quick and has great court vision, allowing him to make some passes that we are just not used to seeing on our team. Everyone on our team is talented. One of the lesser known players is Ike Diogu, and he reminded me of a Zach Randolph that can actually defend. Even our 2nd rookie pick Nicolas Batum played well.
There are going to be some nights where we lose games that we probably should have won, its just that way in the NBA, but at the same time, I think we are a legit shot to win the 5th or 6th seed if everyone stays healthy. Once we get to the playoffs, anything can happen.
I have never seen so much crowd energy for a pre season game. I think it is safe to say that the Rose Garden is going to be a difficult place for any team to come in and steal a win. The house is rockin!

Re: Blazers !!!!
I was wondering how long it would be until someone posted on the Blazers. I almost did when camp opened up, but thought it might be a little early. I like what Jason Quick from the Oregonian said about their slogan. It is no longer "Rise With Us", but now "Don't Blink." I'm so ready for this season. Can we say playoffs?!?
Go BLAZERS!!!

I was kinda hoping they would put Luke in, I really hope he makes the cut this year. That guy needs a home bad. The blazers are looking good, and I hope they keep it up. Would be nice to have a home town team to root for again.

You might not be getting offers for free tickets anymore. These guys are class acts, just what Portland needed.

I think this team is going to be 12-12 to start the season but in the end I think they are going to win the dvivision. That Blazer bench is just too deep and talented. GO BLAZERS! RIP CITY IS BACK!!

Oh yea RIP CITY is upon us once again.
Rebuilding time is over it is now time for Coach Nate mold this team into winners. The wins might not come as easy in the begining but just wait once these guys get half a season under their belt the sky is the limit.
I expect big things from this team this year and many years to come.

I was at the game last night and the atmosphere was amazing. Playoff atmosphere for a pre-season game??? Insane! the boys played great too. Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here; Sac played terrible and will not be a good team this year. I still think the Zers will finish in the 7th or 8th playoff spot

Blazers lose but a great night out No Roy,Webster has a stress fracture and during the last couple minutes Rudy sprained his ankle He says he's ok....some treatment and he'll be ready to practice tomorrow (his words) in Spanglish. Golden State was pretty good.
Sunday is another day !

Ya it was nice to see the Blazers on TV tonight. Most definately would have been a Blazers win if Roy suited down, websters absence didnt help either. When Fernandez went down my heart skipped a beat! They lost by 15 but was still a blast to watch!@!!

Re: Blazers !!!!
Oden did a great job...he's going to be a great block under the basket. We have needed that. What's up with Outlaw? He has such potential if he could just get his confidence up. He certainly didn't play his potential last night.
Those new kids are doing so good too...That Batum kid did a great job, was so aggressive for his first in the NBA. Geez...those long arms...
Yes, it was a loss but you really can't "blink" during these games!!!

Re: Blazers !!!!
Turnovers are what really hurt them last night, 27 of them! That led to almost 30 points for the Warriors. It was an exciting game to see though, especially sitting 5 rows from the court! It was awesome being that close and hearing the chatter on the court.

Turnovers kill ya in a game no matter what part of the season you are in. Something these young guys need to work on from the looks of last night on TV. Still the excitment for the team is way cool. Has not been that way for a long long time. My best wishes to the Blazers this season. Bring home a championship.

Re: Blazers !!!!
It looked to me like they were trying to force too many things. It's all about learning to play together since they are a young team. There will be some growing pains, but things will come together...sooner than later.

Re: Blazers !!!!
They had alot of turnovers and played pretty sloppy down the stretch, but you have to remember three of the guys that were in the game down the stretch probably wont see much playing time when games count. If that was regular season Sergio wouldnt have been playing point and Batuum would have been on the bench.
That's the first time I've really seen Batuum play and he looked to have a ton of upside potential.
They are clearly LOADED with talent.

Re: Blazers !!!!
Oden .. mid foot sprain .. xrays inconclusive ... mri scheduled in Portland on Wednesday!
I have been watching the Blazers for the past 20 years. Gotta tell ya, very disappointed in tonight’s game. These kids are paid millions to show us what they did tonight. Some of you might be merciful and give them a break .. but after 20 years .. getting all excited to see them do something great .. no patience left for this crap and excuses.
There was no hustle, no desire .. no scrambling after the ball. They were flat and played poorly.
I don't want to hear about nerves ... they are young .. give them time .. No team should get beat like that in the first game of the season .. let them go down fighting .. they went down with a whimper .. gave up!!! Let us see some fight .. some feisty play like Fry with elbows flying high!
These blazers have much to prove .. and I will continue to watch .. but temper my enthusiasm until I see some cohesiveness and better team play.
Growl!

Gee, way to pee on guy when he's down!
When Oden leads the team to the playoffs this year lets not jump on that bandwagon.

Re: Blazers !!!!
I'll tell you who I am disappointed in and that is LA. He just never seems to give it his all. Just kind of lopes along. I don't understand why they think he is part of the "triangle" but they do. And while I'm no Kobe fan for sure, what was with that bump/foul on the part of Pryzbilla? Yeah, he needs to get tough but that seemed untimely to me.
I too am afraid Oden might be injury prone. His knee, his ankle and don't forget he had a tonsilectimy (sp?) right off the get-go. He's a nice kid and I think he's got potential if he can ever get out there on the floor and stay out there.
And why didn't Coach Nate play Rudy and Sergio together more. They are explosive as a duo usually.
These kids were back to mainly jump shots from the perimeter. Like Bad Boy Charles said last year, they are never going to be a playoff team until they start getting in the paint and under the basket. Granted, the Lakers played great defense but the Blazers' offense didn't move much on the floor.
I sure hope this was the worst game they play this season. I still like the team, at least they are clean-cut and I'll take that any day over the "Jailblazers". And they usually lose to the Lakers in their house...not in ours though.
Not giving up on them...we'll see what they do against the Spurs Friday night. By the way, did you hear Barkley say Portland has outstanding fans and always has? One more thing...do you ever watch the Blazer rerun games on 37? The Drexler, Porter, Duckworth, etc. days?

Re: Blazers !!!!
I think rudy fernandez is gonna be a really good player in this league, very nice pickup for the blazers. Im not worried it was the first game of the season you give these guys some time to gel and they are going to be a pretty good team this year, we need oden in the middle and i hope he can bounce back from this.

Re: Blazers !!!!
Not at all. The facts speak for themselves. Rolled ankle twice, knee surgery, etc. He's a big guy and, unfortunately, a lot of big guys are prone to lower extremity injuries. If Oden does lead the Blazers to the playoffs - which is a tall order for essentially a 20 year old rookie, then good on him. I hope I'm wrong when I say that I don't see that happening.

When Oden leads the team to the playoffs this year lets not jump on that bandwagon.

Re: Blazers !!!!
I give him 3 unproductive injury-prone years in Portland and he will be cut to continue what will be a short career elsewhere. The human body just isnt meant to be jumping and running/cutting on a very unfogiving surface. Couple that with being 7' and 270lbs and that leads to disaster. It takes about 8-10 "big men" to enter the NBA to get 1 that will actually have a decent career. The Waltons, Kareems, Shaqs and Ewings arent grown on trees. Thats why the Blazers picked another big man, because if they got a good one they would be dominant for years to come. Unfortunately they again picked one that is bitten by the injury bug. The odd thing to me is that they tossed him and Durant around for weeks and "rubber gloved" them both and still went with Oden. Oden has been riddled by injuries his entire career, did the Blazers actually think that him joining the NBA and playing with strong full grown men would do anything but hurt him more???

Spot on. In fact, you can hardly include Walton in that league, even though he was instrumental one year. His body gave out, too. A short career. But I hope you're wrong. It only takes a couple good years from a guy like Oden to bring a team to the top.

Re: Blazers !!!!
I feel sorry for him....it wasn't his fault....seemed that the LA thugs kinda crowded him then threw him to the ground, .....watch the video. I still beleive he'll come back this year....My approach is that they should have treated him like a "Rookie", not starting him...put him in for a few minutes at a time and get him a dietician. I think he'll be back....I think he'll be back...I think he'll be back....
Go Blazers !!

Re: Blazers !!!!
Martell Webster signs 4yr, 20 million contract extension ! With Portland having the option at the end of the contract. Martell was looking pretty darn good before his injury.....I think we'll see a different guy this year (better)
Don't forget to wear RED tonight if you are lucky enough to be attending the game.
Go Blazers !!!
