i think my wife is cheating on me
I've never talked about this before, but I really need the boards advice on what could be a crucial decision. I’ve suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me.
The usual signs… Phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up.
My wife has been going out with the girls a lot recently although when I ask their names she always says, “Just some friends from work, you don’t know them.”
I always stay awake to look out for her taxi coming home, but she always walks down the drive. Although I can hear a car driving off, as if she has gotten out of the car round the corner. Why? Maybe she wasn’t in a taxi?
I once picked her cell phone up just to see what time it was and she went berserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.
Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my wife I think deep down I just didn’t want to know the truth, but last night she went out again and I decided to really check on her.
I decided I was going to sit behind the boat which is next to the garage and then hide behind it so I could get a good view of the whole street when she came home. It was at that moment, crouching behind my boat , that I noticed that the cover on my engine seemed to be cracked a little and some oil was leaking out .
Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it over to the shop ?

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Definitely get that looked at in the shop, but clean off the oil first. You might get a ticket for oil spillage otherwise.

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Most important part of your problem. If you should get oil on your fingers, then try to bait hook. Your whole day fishing is toast!!!..
Very important to have that machine working smoothly... To not slow down your fishing. Keep your dog near boat to keep it under a watchful eye.
Good luck fixing the Leaking oil.

Did you see a crack or just think that it might be cracked? You could just have a leaky gasket?

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
I would do as much investigation about the character as you can. If you discover he's a boat mechanic he may be able to get you in quickly.
Make sure he knows that if the boat is fixed you'll be out on the coast fishing every weekend.

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
If you start the repair yourself and then find yourself in over your head, it is really embarrassing to take it in to the shop and have them complete the repair for you after you took it all apart. Just take it in to the shop.
Maybe your wife's boyfriend knows a good boat shop? You should wait up tomorrow night and ask him. If you're lucky, he may even work for a boat shop and might be able to cut a deal with you...

Make sure you clean the oil off your fingers cause if you leave motor oil on your wife's phone when you are checking up on her she will really flip - don't ask how I know this

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
I have been down that road before. First of all, wait until she is asleep then check out her phone and copy down the numbers. If you find out that it is true that she is cheating on you. Get the divorce papers first, and file them! I lost my home by not doing it first. Then get a restraining order so she cant come back. Take it from someone who was put thru the ringer 8 yrs ago.

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Maybe he has a nice boat...you could borrow it from time to time and sell your boat and not worry about the oil leak. Then one day you could invite him along...on his own boat... and though the son of a canine over the port gunnel....

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Oil leaking ,please do not take the advice of any of the past posts.
YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY BUY A NEW BOAT.
Definetely two feet bigger than what you have now ,
that will teach her.

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
I would not fixs boat before I knew if the wife had a boyfriend or not. The reason I say this is because you might need the money to get a divorce. If you get a divorce you will most likely have to sell boat anyway so why spend the money on it.
I would solve the crucial issues first, the marriage unless you plan on going fishing soon.

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
wait on the new boat the last thing you want to do is buy it now while still married and then be forced to give it to her, for her new boyfriend to take out!
sorry about the wife situation you should call cheaters and let them find out for you!!! cheaters is the best show on tv today!

The crucial issue here is the boat. The rest will take care of itself, in time. The boat needs your full attention.

you should talk to your wife. she might have taken the boat out and cracked it and be trying to work a better deal to get it fixed before you find out she cracked the boat. so if she can work a better deal let her do it

finding out something like this is hard. But, now you need to find out. Get that boat into a mechanic and have it looked at.

I'd consider "selling" the boat to a friend. If you get a divorce, you might lose the boat in the settlement.

Red flags all over the place. ALWAYS trust your intuition and gut feeling. Be pro-active and cover your ass. Ask around for a GOOD lawyer and pay for a consultation. That 1 hour of time with an attorney could potentially save you thousands of dollars. Yes I said THOUSANDS of dollars.
Good luck with your boat.

You guys.....
But I'm really more worried about those that appear to not have actually read this and are taking it just a little too seriously.
I realise this general subject isn't funny, but one or two of you guys are making my stomach hurt.

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
If the boat is dripping oil, AND your wife has life insurance, move the boat with said oil leak so that the oil will drip into her walking path on the driveway. Move boat to original parking spot before she comes home. It is very possible that a slight "slip" could take care of your oil leak by putting you into a new boat AND take care of that other minor issue as well all at once!
Not that I would ever suggest anything like this on iFish as it could be construed as "illegal" and therefor get me in trouble. Nope, uhuh, I'd never do that, not me!

Marriages can be saved anytime but an oil leak will stain your driveway and ruin fishing plans, get the leak taken care of by a professional

For gods sake man ,run up the credit cards, invest in a cabin in Alaska( a man has to have a place to lay his head if a disaster strikes),buy that new pickup you always wanted, and go fishing to get your thoughts together before you make wrong decision. One last thing I have to ask,can she cook?

High Jack for a moment.....
I posted to this thread last night and provided a link to another website that had the same story. It was off a motorcycle forum and was almost word for word as the same as this thread. I say almost becuase I was notified that there was some verbage in the link that I posted wasn't fit for public use and violated the AUP at ifish. I take 100% responsibility for not giving my web link a closer read before posting and apologize to anyone who may have been offended by the foul language involved. It was not my intenet.
Ok, now back to your regular station

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
OMG this thread was just what I needed today. It cracked me up when I finished the story in the first post and then some of the replies made me roll around laughing. You are going to need more than a long pair of needle nose pliers to pull the hook out of some of them, they took the bait deep you might as well just cut the line rather than try and remove the hook

Get a good attorney right away!
Get the boat title in your name only, check with the attorney to make sure this is not a warranty issue, some of these boat makers will try anything to get out of paying for "servicable" issues causing you more problems down the line.

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Wait wait wait.....if the engine is leaking oil then the value has depreciated. You stand to loose less in the divorce. Don't let the boyfriend touch it!!!!
Go buy a new motor and secretly exchange them each time you use the boat.
Or better yet...tell the wife it's fixed, leave a 12 pack in the boat for the boyfriend to drink while he uses the boat. Maybe he will crash, fix the wife problem and insurance will buy a new boat????
Or maybe you should just get it fixed and go fishing instead of stringing some these poor readers along....

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
If you don't get that fixed now it could affect further fishing trips and that would ruin your life. Get it to a mechanic at once or face dire consequences.
Oh..., about the wife, trade her in on a newer or better working model.

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Just tell her your going fishing. Take off for about an hour and act like you didn't know about the oil leak. Come home and you will probably find your suspicions to be true; however, if you see my truck in the driveway (Green Tacoma) we are just working on the final papers for your new engine.
Seriously, this thread had me rolling at work. Thanks y'all.

I've been down both of these roads!!!
My advice is get rid of both of them before they start costing you real money!

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Does it change anything if the person dropping her off is another woman?

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
But the most important question is how will the boat get fixed so he can fish?

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Should run fine with a little leak, just keep the fluids topped off. The real question is how many herring to brine.

Not that I would ever suggest anything like this on iFish as it could be construed as "illegal" and therefor get me in trouble. Nope, uhuh, I'd never do that, not me!

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
Take it from a guy who's been married 3 times. That boat mechanic will be a heck of lot less than a divorce.....

Re: i think my wife is cheating on me
If you have the right tool, know how to use it, and want to use it, someone else shouldn't need to put oil in your boat. When it comes to dingy's though, some think size matters and others think its the motion of the ocean. Every boat is different, good luck.
