vegas on a budget?
So its my 23rd b-day on saturday and i was thinking vegas might be fun. Anyone know of any good deals out there or any websites that i can get a hotel/airfare package from? I want to leave thursday and come home sunday.
I know it's kinda last minute, but what the hey why not.

Re: vegas on a budget?
Get in the car you should be there by thursday. It's kinda of a nice drive stop and spend a night in Reno and then off to Vegas.

Re: vegas on a budget?
last minute and on a budget should not be used in the same sentance. get ready to pay up if your serious. or just save your cash, head to the coast, party, gamble, fish...and eat if there is time

Actually lincoln city is the plan for now. It's more realistic and still fun.

Re: vegas on a budget?
Vegas is hurting right now. There are some good last minutes deals out there. Go online and and price some packages (travelocity, priceline)It will be cheaper if you fly out Thursday night and come home Sunday night.

Haha. Talk about timing! I am going there Monday- staying at the Stratosphere for $40/ night. I still think the deal is on their website.

Re: vegas on a budget?
You will spend just as much money having fun as you will trying to skrimp. Vegas isnt something you can do on a budget. Just take booze with you and you should be fine.
Can be pretty spendy to get into the clubs, just pop the VIP a $50 real casually and you should get in just fine. Works every time at Studio 54.

Re: vegas on a budget?
there is an airline that i usually use going to vegas that isn't listed in the travel web sites you have to go to their web site direct and they have fairly good deals also. shop around your room is a flopping point. no need for an expensive room. if this is your first trip to vegas then you will be busy seeing everything for the first time so no need for a car. check out down town at sunset when the light show starts it is excellent. also if you take a group there are vacation rental homes that are fairly good deals also.

Re: vegas on a budget?
The air fare is going to kill your budget. You can get rooms for $25 a night right now. Vegas.com has some deals for air and room. A lot of websites won't let you search when you are this close. I would call US Airways and try to get cheap tickets and then call a hotel and book at Imperial Palace if you want a good location for a cheap price.

No such thing as cheap in Vegas. Those days are long gone. YOu can get inexpensive rooms, but then let the money vortex begin. Average show is now $150 a ticket, average meal is now $35, and so on. If you want to go to a gambling place on a budget, try south lake or reno. Much nicer places to go as well.

Re: vegas on a budget?
site59.com used to have good last minute travel deals... i figure all the travel sites have em now though.
you will probably get the best deal from one of those site booking hotel and airfare together.
otherwise if you find decent airfare on it's own, you may as well use priceline or hotwire and just take any 4 star hotel.
once you're there gamble in the old part of vegas and you're money will last longer. places like binyons or golden nugget or fitzgeralds.

I like Reno to but the last time I was there I got panhandled in the casino while sitting at a slot machine. I still like going there but I am leaning more towards Vegas.

Re: vegas on a budget?
Well, the next time you do go, I would recommend Vegas.com . . . it seemed as good as anything, although I don't know about how good they are on short notice.
Also, look a little bit like a schmuck while walking around New York, New York and Escalibur, and the Time Share people may grab you. We did ours, it did take about 4-5 hours when you added drive time with the traffic, but was pretty painless overall. It was mc'd by a comedian guy, a short 20 minute schpeel, a tour of some pretty nice rooms, found out how much two weeks for one of those things cost . The one we did was Tahiti Village. We had to give them I think $40 cash refundable deposit, which we did get back with a little bit of haggling, but then we got free tickets to the Roller Coaster at New York, New York as well as show tickets for the Crazy Horse show. I figured we got $150 worth of stuff for our time, which we wouldn't have spent on our own, but helped give us a memorable trip to vegas.
But I think you have to be married and close to being 30 for them to ask you to do that Time Share stuff. Also, the guy who brought us to where we were to be picked up talked about other Time Share places have a thing that is more like 8 or 9 hours, and boring as all get out. So maybe we lucked out. And Tahiti Village might be close to be complete, so they may not be doing that stuff much anymore.

Re: vegas on a budget?
Just go online to Harrahs.com or total rewards.com and sign up for there player rewards club. They send me offers for free rooms all the time. Harrahs, Bally's, Flamingo, and Caesar's are all right in the middle of the strip, so easy to get around from there.
If you have a credit card, consider switching to a card that gives you airmiles rewards. My wife and I have enough miles saved up to take two different round trips for free right now. With free lodging as well, all we need is a little spending cash.
