Default How is salmon at CR Bar

I am thinking about going with a charter service on thursday out of ilwaco washington for coho out over the bar. I was wondering is the salmon fishing doing any good out in the ocean off the columbia river bar.

You should bring the cooler in your car so you can keep your fish cold on the way home. There are good numbers of fish being caught. Have fun! Good luck!

The boats came in yesterday morning with limits about 11 am. Why don't you use one of the ifish Charters that support this board. Tackle Time (Ed's been doing real well- he was one of the limits Monday)or Charlton are both out of Warrenton or Tiki out of Astoria. I don't think there's any sponsors out of Ilwaco. Don't need to buy an Oregon license if you are a WA resident either ya know.

Miss B, great idea on going with an Ifish boat. My question is, how far out are the fisn from the bar and can I make the run in a 19' boat without to much worry. I use to cross the bar 12 to 25 times a summer but it was on a bigger boat and I was young and more courageous.

IF I see swells at 6' and wind chop at 4 should I cross or stay in? I am a real coward as I want to live long enough to retire and then fish every day. Yes, I can handle a boat in about all weather but just want to be safe with this smaller boat.

Should I stick to Newport and Depot Bay bars? I want to go where I can find more than two or three fish a trip.

Thanks again for helping all of us in the big blue.
