We landed 40 salmon in three days fishing mostly for chinook. 260-280 feet off the lighthouse. Chinook were at about 50 feet until 10 or so and then moved down to over 100 by noon. 150 ft. was hot the entire trip from about 10:00 on. I was unlucky on landing chinook. We lost several nice ones and landed all the small ones. Biggest was 25lbs. We caught a few that weren't even legal they were so small. Came home with 20 fish, 12 of which were chinook. Had to release several 10 lb. wild silvers and the biggest keeper silver was 8. We were nailing silvers between 7 and 12 pulls. We just headed N until the lighthouse and then go straight out until you hit solid 51 degree water. We saw a man and his wife get a ticket for having wild silvers that he thought were chinook. They were all about 10 lbs. with a fin. $300 per fish. Good luck and hopefully you can use my information. Jesse

I forgot; double glow hoochies with a quarter of a small/medium herring. We got over 40 take downs each day on this. Silver flasher up top for coho and silver/brass flasher down deep for chinook. Big glow in the dark hoochies for both.

Default Salmon suggestions needed....

Planning a trip out from Newport for Salmon ('nooks & coho) this weekend. I'd appreciate suggestions to what's been working: where, how deep, with what terminal gear so to improve our fishing.

As always thanks in advance for your help.

Last week, we hit fish off the lighthouse in 250-300 feet, coho and one chinook, down to 60 feet or so. Everything was working, the nook came on bait with a hoochie about 60 pulls on a diver. We caught a bunch of fish, and lost a bunch too.

Bring lots of bait. Fishplay and Popeye said they banged ema, big nooks, at the pile on Saturday, but I didn't see numbers. I would try to contact those guys and do that.

blubeast...fish down the center of the N. Pile & out to the west side after you leave the N section. I don't have the #s here. I was fishing 60' of wire w/rotary & whole small herring.
