Default Something to thank the bad economy for

Beater full size pickups are almost free. I just bought my new hunting rig.

I just picked up a 1990 F250 4x4 with a fresh 351 for $900! That's just nuts.

Nice looking. With all the money you saved you'll be able to afford fuel.

I wouldn't call that a "beater". Nice truck.

How many miles?

175000, it got it's new motor at 125K. It has a bit of oil leaking out the valve covers, and the tires are in their last third of wear, but it will make a great hunting rig. It's a beater because that is what I am going to do with it. Can't not pound on a $900 4x4. Most of my use will be off road, low speed dirt and gravel. Hard part will be when something breaks, as anything serious will probably cost more than I paid for the rig. I will cry if the transfer case dies.

Looks like about 10mpg. Yowch. 100 bucks didn't fill up both tanks. Thank god I have a mazda3 for my daily driver.

Kurt, the good thing about a rig like that.
There is so much space under the hood around the engine, you can easily see and get to everything with MAN sized hands, repairs are much easier, and you can buy all your parts at autozone.
