I had the pleasure of fishing Newport with the lovely Stoyjun Princess and her always entertaining husband, Captain Latex.
Friday, we fished off of the lighthouse and had several takedowns but only got one in the box. The Princess again outfished us and had a nice 32 pound king to show for it.
Saturday, we again trolled off of the lighthouse but this time, we went three hours without a bump. We headed further out where we happened upon Fishplay who was mooching deep. We started circling his boat and two hours later, we were treated to those three words we all long to hear: "Limited the boat." The largest was a 31 pounder and only one of the six keepers was a coho. Most bites were on the downrigger at 50 feet. We had two sets of doubles, too. Woooohoooo!
It was a terrific day on the ocean. We returned to port at 30 mph.
