A little jealous today....
I'm sitting here alone today as I am at least 500 months pregnant, and thinking about all the people headed out to their deer camp! Plus, it's my freakin' birthday. This is the first year in ten years that I have missed a deer hunt! I'm thinking about my family sitting around the fire and getting camp set up right now... and my grandma's yummy breakfast when they all get back from tomorrow's morning hunt. And I'm really gonna miss that Jack and Coke around the fire tonight!
Have fun out there, and be safe all you rifle deer hunters!

Re: A little jealous today....
My wife didn't need a weapon, any body parts within reach were chewed off. Heck if you were in ear shot that was too close.
Lets just say you don't get grade in planning and scheduling All things considered there will be many more hunts to enjoy especially with a new little on at your family's side. Good luck and rest up

well, in just x number of months, you will have a trophy that will last far beyond anything that happens this next week at deer camp!!
and there will be deer camps to come, be patient.

Re: A little jealous today....
I feel for ya. Unfortunately for my daughter she just got a fairly bad concussion, so MRI at 5pm, and opening day is suddenly not that important......or happening for me either now.
Leave me ONE!!

Re: A little jealous today....
Seriously, congrats to you, fishgirl...the best of seasons are yet to come. My own baby girl "ruined" an antelope hunt for me 16 years ago as I was missing her badly, so took a smaller than anticipated buck, but the memories still make me smile. And last year I smiled as I watched her take her first "trophy"...
And Got One!, your daughter will be in my thoughts and prayers.

There will plenty of campfires at deer camp with your family and future little hunter. When are you due fishgirl?
Hope you're having a great birthday!

Happy Birthday!
The little one you get to bring home soon will make missing the season well worth it. Congrats in advance!

Re: A little jealous today....
Fishgirl, I know how you feel, missed archery season due to a new one, but wouldn't trade the experience. Also, happy Birthday.
Jokester, your time will come, I'll be sure to remind your of this post.

You can't even have a beer for your Birthday!
Too bad humans don't have a rut that we can schedule things around.

Re: A little jealous today....
Thanks, everyone! We actually planned it this way, but I'm still sad I have to miss one year of hunting. If all goes according to plan, this little guy (who's middle name is going to be Hunter) will arrive by c-section October 22. So if he ends up a rifle hunter like me, he'll have an elk season birthday, but if he ends up an archery hunter like his dad, he'll have a fall chinook season birthday!!
I'm sure I ruined my Dad's deer season the year I was born, but I love having my birthday at deer camp. So I guess I can sacrifice one year for my son!!

Re: A little jealous today....
My wife was not going to miss deer season even though the baby is due in a week. She thought iut would be cool to shoot a deer for our son in her belly.

Re: A little jealous today....
My wife was pretty excited to say the least. Out of the 5 bucks she has killed this is by far the smallest but the one we will remember the most.
