Coos Bay tuna?
Judging from the past couple of days of Terrafin shots, it looks as if there is tuna potential about 30 miles out from Coos Bay. Has anyone tried lately? We're considering a run on Tuesday if the forecast and SST's hold together. Any info would be helpful and thanks.

Re: Coos Bay tuna?
Nofish - In looking at last nights Terrafin shot (subscription one, so can't post it), along the 43.30 lat line and 125.00 - 125.05 there is a really nice looking temp break there where I'd bet there's tuna sitting there munching down on anything in the area.
If I were gonna go from Coos today, that would be my 1st choice target area. Would have to see what it looked like closer to tuesday. I won't be going though, aside from the distance, have too much to take care of for the next couple of weeks.
Good luck to you and anyone else who might go.

Nancy,
Yeah...I was looking at that same spot, about 29 nm out. Will probably be there Tuesday unless things change drastically. Depoe Bay looks good as you have proven, just don't want to drive an extra 2 hours. Cheers...Bob

Re: Coos Bay tuna?
We made a run a couple of weeks back when the temps came into the 125 line but to no avail. Either the SST's were wrong or there was a dramatic change in the temps within a couple of days but to say the least we got out to 57 and that was it for 35 miles. The 125 line is actually about 37 miles from the jetties at Charleston by GPS. So we had a long boat ride and didn't even wet a line.
Mid-July through August will be the time to head out there. We've had a lot of North wind lately and that doesn't help the sea temps much. If I hear anything I'll post it but let us know if you hit anything on tuesday.

Re: Coos Bay tuna?
Wish I could be there Netscape, but that four letter word "work" has got me down this week. If people really start ripping into the numbers of fish (30+) then I'll get antsy to head north.

Re: Coos Bay tuna?
Hey gang,
I've gotta leave town for a couple days, but will be back Thursday. The long-term forecast looks awfully good for the end of the week.
Is it about time to throw together a floatilla out of Charleston?
Shame on me, but I bought my first ever tuna this weekend on the dock. That pretty much sealed the deal for me. I need another hundred or so....
If we can't throw something together, Depot Bay may be on the horizon.

Re: Coos Bay tuna?
Yeah, I'm thinking by weeks end, it might be closer. It looks like winds and swells will be changing direction for a few days. Maybe it'll push things in our direction.
Might be wishful thinking. Ok, it is wishful thinking, but ya gotta try...
Florence to Cape Arago
Tonight
NW wind 10 kt. Wind waves 2 ft. SW swell 4 ft at 11 seconds.
Tue
SW wind 5 kt...becoming W 10 kt in the afternoon. Wind waves 2 ft or less. SW swell 4 ft at 11 seconds.
Tue Night
SW wind 10 kt. Wind waves 2 ft or less. SW swell 4 ft.
Wed
W wind 10 kt in the morning...rising to 15 kt...veering to N in the evening. Wind waves 2 ft. SW swell 4 ft.
Thu
N wind 15 kt. Wind waves 2 ft. W swell 4 ft.
Fri
N wind 15 kt. Wind waves 2 ft. W swell 4 ft.
