Default Pilar, Sea Jypzee Spanks the Tuna 7/05/03 !

They just got in around 5:30 or so and they spanked them.

I'm heading down there for picture taking and to use my sharp filet knives.

Pilar said he got 18 and Nancy stopped counting at 25.

Other ifish boats joined in on the successful hunt also.

Will post some pic's later including a 45 pound chinook caught on the charter boat Maranatha a little while ago.

Chinook fishing is hot!!! Lot's of big toads brought in yesterday and today. Resembles nice fish caught in the rivers!

You won't find a better year for fishing chinook in the salt!

Congrats to all the Dogs that carked the last couple of days!

I tried to muster enough strength to go out today but I ended up home in bed ! After reading these reports I think I'm feeling even more sick.

Oh well, hopefully there will still be some left by the time I get to run with the big dogs!

OH my gosh, I want to be part of this slaugter. I went out of Depot Bay today and limited on Coho and One 28 lb chinook. Lots of short bites and lost fish before getting them to the boat.

Seas were relatively flat and calm. Makes me want to go out farther for the tuna run. Just not sure about the fuel consumption yet. Boat and Radio seem to attract fish.

Nice talking to Orca out there. He can tell you how he did but a clue, it's bigger than mine.

Nice tuna hunting Guys and Gals! Someday I will join you.

SnapShot,

Nice talking to you too. When I talked to you, I must not have caught the fact that you went out of Depoe. You were loud and clear, and I thought you were out off of Newport like I was.

We never really got things figured out till it was too late, but did end up with a 38" and 31" nooks. Couldn't get an acurate weight on the big one, but figure about 32 lb's now. Should have gone with the whole herring from the start, but the big guy did take a sparkley white hoochie at 50 ft. on the Downrigger - 250' of water. After the sun came out, we put down to 100', then 150'. Picked up the 31" on whole herring at 100', and got bit but missed twice at 150', then had to head home. Couldn't find a Coho for nothing. A whole bunch of Chinook were caught today, lots of chatter on the radio about the 15/20/25/30 pounders that were going in fish boxes all over the place.

Hey Mark! So is that "sparkly white" hoochie one that I would recognize ? Glad you got some greasy pigs! We've dined off the big one last night & tonight. The oil content in these fish is incredible right now; never tasted better. See ya...."the other Mark"

Orca, I was NNW of the wall at Depot Bay and slowly drifted South until about noon. That means you were off Yaquinta Lighthouse and we must have been about 20 miles apart. Pretty good reception but my radio was breaking up all day and not many messages came in clear. May be a problem with the radio.

We found fish at all levels buy my chinook came in with a fierce attitude at 8 pulls and went wild. He must have taken 100 yards of line threee different times.

Coho were spotty and we took them all over the place. No real patterns.

I did see some tuna carcuss' at the cleaning station so I know that some of the guys beat me in and they did fill the two barrels with heads and tails. Looked like a lot of good crab bait in those barrels.

Hey, Steve, have you heard anything from Ed? All I get is a busy signal. Maybe he's out in the shop, welding.

LOL

Skein, maybe you should start camping in his front yard. You know, just pitch a tent ....

Let me know when you want to break in your new boat ... Jen and I are an experienced crew.
