Live update from the Sea Jypzee
Just got a very excited phone call from Wildhawg who is riding along on the Sea Jypzee. They are headed back in to Depoe Bay, 32 tuna in the box.
Congrats!

Re: Live update from the Sea Jypzee
Update - I just got home from the fish cleaning and slaughter. Thanks so much to DepoeBay Dan for the help in getting all the loins taken care of.
As for the final count. We ended up with 24 Tuna on the Sea Jypzee today. Scored a few triple hook ups, several more doubles, and lots of misc. hook ups on an assortment of gear. The primary gear of choice was the Purple/Black Tuna Clone, and the Mexican Flag tuna Clone for anyone interested.
Fish were all a very good quality of fish, with no peanuts. Average about 18-22 lbs for the most part.
Thanks go out to WildHawg and Bob for crewing today. You both were great and invited back on Sea Jypzee any time!
ATC - We started fishing at about 26 miles out when we got into good blue water. We never went past about 32 miles out straight out from Depoe Bay on the 45.05 lat, and about 124.36 long. or thereabouts. Just fished around the water changes, and once we started getting into them, just circled around the same area a few laps till we quit getting fish in that area.

Re: Live update from the Sea Jypzee
By the way Nancy, Bob timed me and I averaged 3 minutes on de-loining the long fins. Sweet!
I appreciated the practice and I got better & better (untill the last beer).
I appreciate you guys being a family and how sweet it is.
Love ya all and got to meet a new ifisher, (South Paw).
Praise to the ifisher's! Brotherhood! (Sisterhood in your case Nancy)!

Re: Live update from the Sea Jypzee
3 minutes HAH! It might havre taken you 3 minutes but you should see the loin when he's done with it. OK OK your real handy with that knife so I'm retracting the first 2 sentences. I think with what the Whakem's got the "Dogs" pillaged over 100 tuna today, err check that yesterday, out of the Big Blue. GREAT DAY. Tired late night. Especially since the cops followed like that last 10 miles to my house. I don't think they could figure out why I had 4 coolers in the back of my truck.

Re: Live update from the Sea Jypzee
Dan - I had a great time last evening as well, though now the work begins of canning that tuna. I wish I could've found my special knife I use for tuna last night. It's a Victorinox knife. With that little thing, I used to be able to fly through the loins. I have an extra one at home here. Guess I'll have to get another one to keep on the boat.
Wildhawg - As do you, brother!!!
South Paw - Nice haul from the Salty Dawgs yesterday!! Tuna town will never be the same!!

Oh, it even got better when the cuttin' began. For me anyway, I didn't go. :depressed:
Charlie was on a roll. It was like having Robin Williams there.

Re: Live update from the Sea Jypzee
South Paw - It is basically a small paring knife only it's got a serrated edge on it. Stainless Steel blade, made in Switzerland. Says Victorinox on the side. Englands has them. I usually try to keep a couple around all the time they're so useful. They're almost impossible to dull and are great for tuna. I still use the felet knife to cut the blood meat, but these work better than anything I've found for doing the loins.
