Default What to get?

I have about $300 coming in from a recent deal and want to buy another centerfire rifle. Any thing out there new or used that you've seen lately?
Kind of vague question, but I'm looking for ideas. Thanks!

Saw a Rem. mod 721, 30-'06 in the paper a few days ago for under $300. Can't beat the trigger or barrel that came on those guns.

Probably not what you're wanting to hear, but If you already have a small stack of rifles, I'd either save my money or maybe do an upgrade ie: McMillan stock, better trigger or a rebarrel job. I have had and have stacks of rifles and have blown thousands of $ on rifles I no longer have. In the end, it all came down to two or three I always reach for. The remaing few in the safe rarely get used. There really is no investment future in buying rifles. They won't be worth much as our grandad's guns because of mass production.

even though it's not centerfire you could get a pretty sweet .17hmr setup for $300.

The above may be true, but for me buying a rifle isn't exactly a "investment for the future". I'm not looking to turn a profit, i'm looking to have a rifle that serves a purpose. One that I can depend and rely on, for hunting, target shooting, duty, or varmint.
