Default Please don't let this happen to your dog

we had to put him down today because of this.
Several months ago my German Shorthair got sick and I wound up taking him to the emergency vets where they diagnosed him having pneumonia.
They said it was from having inhaled like a grass seed, ect. We got him over that or so we thought and two months later he winds up with a lump on his side. The vet operates and doesn't find anything. Then we start in on 2 1/2 months later he is still oozing pus out the incision. We finally figured out after the vet went back in today and found nothing in there that he had what they call a fungal infection. It is called coccidioidomycosis. He evedently picked it up sometime while we were camping around Maryhill, WA. There is nothing they can do when it gets as far as it was in our dog. It was affecting him neurologically. When he got tired he wobbled like a weeble and then fell down. Just want people to be aware that this is becoming more prevelant and is extremely hard to cure.

Sorry for your loss, it's never easy to say goodbye to our pets...especially when it happens unexpectedly.

Thanks for sharing your story and bringing it to our attention, not sure what you could have done differently however.

God Bless
Gunner

Losing a good dog before his time is one of the things a man still cry's over. I came very close to losing my 11 year old Wirehaired pointer this summer and the vet still can't tell me what the problem was......
