Corbett Boat Ramp, well, formerly....
Several years ago, we were able to launch a boat at Corbett boat ramp on the Columbia. There was no dock and the winds sometimes made it a bit tricky. Someone, most likely the county, blocked it. Does anyone know who "owns" that? Are there any plans to improve and reopen it? Why did they close it in the first place?

Re: Corbett Boat Ramp, well, formerly....
Last time I launched there was probably about 5 years ago, It was officially closed but not gated, so a few die-hards would still use it. Now it's gated. Not much room for rig and trailor parking. They (whoever "they" is?) probably don't think it's worth the money for the limited # of boaters it could serve. I'd sure like to see the marine board put in a ramp up near the dam or else fix up dalton point. That would give the fishery a run for their money! $7.00 for a single launch is robbery! I don't know who owns it but rooster rock is right there and their boat launch is useable most the year.

Re: Corbett Boat Ramp, well, formerly....
While I was trying to learn more about the Tunnel Point bank access closure from ODOT, I also learned a little about this ramp.
It seems the ramp was not the greatest in the world but it worked. During the flood of '96 it sustained damage. ODOT actually looked into fixing it but realized they could not justify using highway dollars to repair the ramp.
I suspect any repair costs would have to come out of ODFW, Marine Board , or possibly Parks and Recreation funds. If you're serious about getting the ramp reopened, you may want to start by calling these agencies to get a handle on who has jursidiction over the ramp. You may also want to call Multnomah County and ask them about it.
Perhaps this would be a good trade-off project for the loss of the Tunnel Point bank access. It also might make a good volunteer project. I know the Steelheaders have rebuilt ramps on other streams. What would prevent a bunch of Ifishers from getting together and doing the same?

Re: Corbett Boat Ramp, well, formerly....
Roughly 25 years ago a gentleman from Gresham tried to launch at the Corbett ramp without realizing that there is a pretty severe drop off there.....backed in boat, followed by tow rig, they found him 2 days later....not a good choice of launchs.....ever.....IMHO

SBV - I was thinking the same thing. However, I personally know absolutely nothing about building/repairing boat ramps. That's not to say that we couldn't find a civil engineer with the same interest. I know I'll be needing a project for Master Hunter cert soon and I have a son looking for an Eagle project. That might be interesting and fun.
