Ok, now what????
You did it !!!!
You caught a marlin or other billfish. Bill Monroe gets a call. You are going to make a trophy mount for it, right?
Where do you store a whole 7 foot or longer fish?
Is there a meat locker or someplace that would indulge the storage of your trophy while you made taxidermy arrangements and showed your buddies?

Re: Ok, now what????
John, I don't know if you have already talked to a taxidermist or not but what I was told in Hawaii was that they don't use the actual fish. They take the measurements and then build up a mount and paint it. My wife had her short nosed spearfish done by Gray Taxidermy out of Florida. Beware of the shipping costs, it will cost a lot of money to ship from Florida. If you can find someone relatively close you can save a lot of money. Don't ask me how I know this, I am still upset over the shipping cost.

Re: Ok, now what????
Hey John, we won't need to worry about storage for that billfish if we release it. Maybe good karma to release the first one anyway (after photographs)??
Now the bluefin, they be comin' home to Pappa...

Yeah John like TV says you just need the length and girth measurements and they can duplicate anything in the plastic mold..You also get to eat the fish if you choose and have it sitting on the wall a couple months later after your mount is completed..................

Re: Ok, now what????
Mark Mc, you raise an important point. The tag and release billfish programs are extensive on the east coast. After catching bill becomes more than just a fantasy it will become prevalent here too. That first fish owes Jen and I a nice rod/reel combo. Sorry but he's for the dinner table.
Besides, would you believe a mere photo?

Re: Ok, now what????
Heck John, we've been believing you without the photo! Just your irrefutable testimony of the missing yellow po'. The trouble is, how will we know the length if it is longer than your boat? "Ya see here in this photo, there's my hand next to his mouth, and we all know how big my hand is, so this fish must have been 27 feet long."
