I got started when I was about your age (many, many years ago...)

What worked for me was to pick a river or stream and fish it on a regular basis. Learn that river and the lessons learned there will work for most other waters.

Some of the Denny Rickards or Brian Chan videos are good for learning how to fish stillwaters.

Welcome to the fly fishing fraternity and don't get discouraged.

Welcome aboard David. Only fish I've seen from that lake were bass caught around the piers near downtown, but I'd imagine they would be all over the lake around structure. You might check the bass board to see what patterns work for bass and other warm water species and give it a shot

It was a long time ago...but I used to fish the boat docks around the apartment buildings on the East side of the Lake. If you're fishing from a kayak, you should be able to get in there. Fish with a dark leach pattern and drag it deep for the bass...

Have a good time...don't forget to wear your PFD.

Welcome aboard, age 11 was when I started too... I have never fished there before, but let us know how you do.... Good luck, and remember that you just have to put in the time and sooner or later, you will be greatly rewarded....
