Default Electronics Installation Time

Time to install all the jewelry on the new boat is is rapidly approaching. Care to help with the dos and don'ts? What have you Dogs learned about best ways and worst errors?

Here is the list of what goes on the boat:

Magellan FX-324 GPS Chartplotter
Lowrance LCX-16ci Fish TV
Standard Horizon Spectrum Plus VHF with RAM Aux Mic
Floscan Fuel Meter
Scotty's 1106 Downriggers (30" arm)
Washdown pump and 15' coiled hose

I have a second fixed VHF radio that I may or may not mount and a Magellan 315 handheld GPS.

Everything but the downriggers and washdown pump is already in a pile (have not purchased these yet, input?). We are going to fabricate a cleaning station and a fold down counter to bolt to the rear rail. I have two Wise folding deck chairs coming for the cockpit and two 140qt coolers. We will also be adding a slush barrel for cooling tuna on the offshore step. What have I over looked?

Mounting/installation lessons learned??? Thanks guys.

Default Re: Electronics Installation Time

For your X16 I would go to a plastics store like TAP plastics and get a piece of hard white plastic 6x8 or so. Mount that to your transom where you want your transducer to be then mount your transducer to that. This way you can move it if you need to go up, down, or to the side a bit and if you change units you can do the same without having to put too many extra holes in the transom.
