Default Arriving soon in Depoe Bay

As the subject line says, the Sea Jypzee will be arriving soon in Depoe Bay. It's on the road now, and scheduled to arrive sometime around noon tomorrow in Toledo. Not sure how much time I'll have for bringing it up tomorrow, depends on what the winds and ocean are doing really...may just park it in South Beach for the day and bring it up early sunday morning before the wind starts blowing.

Will spend Sunday and monday working on it, prepping it for fishing etc...so if anyone is in the area, come on by Dock 2 and look for me. It'll be right in front of where Samson docks.

Thanks guys.

RJ - Launching from Sturgeon Bend. They have the hoist to get it off the trailer, and into the water. Will cruise it down to South Beach and likely park it there for the night. Have to work a few hours tomorrow afternoon, then will probably be back at it after work to start work on it till it gets too dark. It's the first twin inboard boat I've owned/operated, so I really don't wanna make my first enterance into Depoe Bay when it's overly rough. Will run up there early sunday morning before the winds pick up too much.

Looking at the marine forcast, it looks like things may start to settle down a bit as the week progresses at least.

Road sick Miss B Haven, I believe he or she got trucked up.

Did you say Nancy that it was twin gas?

Whether Billy is going to ride up with you or not, I would love to make the madden voyage.

I think you have my number.

Congrats!

Dan - Yes, it's twin gas inboards. We're cruising from Sturgeon Bend down to South Beach tomorrow. I'll park it there overnight, and cruise on up and into Depoe Bay early Sunday morning before the winds pick up. Hopefully not get too beat up on the run up that way as well.
You're welcome to tag along on the run up if ya want. I've gotta work tomorrow afternoon till 6pm (once I get the boat settled at South Beach). Either I'll give ya a call after work, or you can call me around 7 or so if you haven't heard from me.

Dean - Great. I'll probably be at the boat after work till it starts getting too cold or dark tomorrow. I need to get the radar antenna up, radio's etc hooked up. Would prefer to have electronics up and running for the trip up to here sunday if possible.

I've not seen the ocean yet this morning so not sure exactly what it's doing in near shore. A block from the harbor there is no wind though, and it's sunny, so hard to tell.

Just got word from the driver that Sea Jypzee is currently travelling down Hwy 22 from Salem, on the way to the coast.
If the ocean is not bad, I may just run it up into Depoe Bay today instead of waiting for tomorrow. So look out, here I come!

Hey Nancy....if it came from down south & putting in at Toledo, why did he come up to Salem and across 23? Is hwy 20 considered to twisted to pull a boat that big across? - Mark

Mark - ya, it's an oversized load, and the state regulates what hwy's they can travel. With the sharp turns on Hwy 20, there's too many blind corners, so they routed him via hwy 22.

There she blows! The wind that is. Started blowing good at about 1:00pm for those of you that are curious about the weather as compared to the forecast.

Nancy I'll call you and ride up with you tomorrow morning and bring the digital for some pic's of the madden voyage. That is if you didn't decide to go for it today.

Just a quick update. The boat is parked at South Beach now. Wind was too nasty by the time we got down there, so going to make the trip up early tomorrow am.

A quick question for anyone familiar with Carborators!
The Port engine floods out when we try to idle it down from about 1000 rpm and down. We THINK maybe the float is sticking, as gas comes out over the top of the carborator. Will spraying Cleaner in there help to free that up if it is, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

I won't be able to stick around for an answer at this moment....need to shower and head into work for a little while. Getting off around 6pm and heading back to the boat by about 7 or so this evening to try to get a few things done on it.

Thanks for any ideas anyone can offer on the flooding problem. BTW: It runs fine at higher RPM, just at idle it dies.

Ok, well we think we have the carborator problem figured out...the cleaner sprayed in there did nothing.

Have a mechanic looking at it tomorrow once it's parked safely here in Depoe Bay.

Well, here is the Sea Jypzee parked in Depoe Bay. Prepping is coming along fairly nicely. Not sure exactly how much longer it'll be before it's ready for tuna town, but should be ready for some coho/bottom fishing action for the weekend. Will likely have at least a couple of empty seats fri/sat/sun if anyone is down and needs a ride.

Hey Nancy, welcome home to your new baby! Is that a live bait tank I see off the transom? If so, we'll have to talk about making bait + tuna fishing!

Yep Mark, that's a live bait tank. Probably one of the first things Marty noticed. Then we started talking about fishin' for live chovies in Depoe...

We'll see if I can take the time to edit pic's of the madden voige up here from South Beach. Water was a bit mixed up and it was an overcast outing so don't think they turned out all that great.

Hi Mark - As Dan said, yep it's a Live well. Would love to get some live bait one of these days to take out to the Tuna grounds and really show them a good time.

Dan - That sounds good. Ya, it was kind of a mixed ocean coming up Sunday, but it was fun too. At least I had fun!

Hey Nancy - glad to SEA her in her new home. Looks like a heck of a fishing machine.
Hope you got a top for her, you are in Oregon now you know. Running off the down station sucks logs and crab pots. Vis is so much better up on the bridge, but it's so nice to be all tucked in up there too.
Yep- I want my fish and eat it too!

If it ain't fun, must be work. Work sucks- I'm going fishing!

Got the GPS placed on tonight, so I now have all electronics up and running. I am going to make a Salmon run out tomorrow I think. Will probably try to get away about 6am if anyone is interested in going along. Plenty of room on the boat, as I am alone at this point! It's not going to be a long trip, just a few hours as I want to get back in and get a few more things done on it.

Swampy - thanks much!

Mel - Thanks. Actually I don't have a cover to go over the Flying bridge. Well, there is one it looks like, but it doesn't look like it's in great shape from the little I've opened it up. Will inspect it further as I get a few more things done. Still need to put the Windshield up there on.

I spoke with Lars tonight (charter boat skipper from Dockside Charters). Apparently the commercial boats are pulling Tuna from about 50 miles out now.

Regarding your flooding issue, I had the same thing happen in my ford two barrel. Dirt in the fuel line, float etc can cause it but my problem was solved by bending the float just a little deeper into the bowl. This provided a little more force to close the needle.

What kind of fuel pump do you have? Sometimes electric fuel pumps over pressure the carb. Solve this issue with an inline pressure reducer.

Nice boat! Looks like it could do it all. Cruize the San Juans all the way to Tuna Town.

Actually the flooding issue appears to be resolved. My guess is a stuck float during transport, that's worked its way loose in the run up over the weekend. All is working fine now.
