Bernie- If the conditions calm and the swell is no more than 4 I'll be there. I will take a peak about 8:00 A.M and make the final judjement then. I'll try and find the mighty Catch and Eat on the big blue. Coho's beware..........

If anybody is fishing out of Tillamook for the next 9 days, stop by and say howdy. Will be camped at Crab harbor on the beach, crossing the bar each day the ocean permits.

Salty dog burgee will be flying on the boat.

BOE, I'll probably see you on Sunday out of Garibaldi.

It looks pretty good right now. The CR buoy is reading under 10 knt winds with 2'chop/5'swell and was forecasted for 4'/7'.

Look out nookie, nookies!

The time frame I gave you in email may change. If I'm off to Philly I may have to fish before then

I appreciate the offer though.

Look for a 21ft reinell with 4 dumb looking guys and ill be the one giveing orders. We are leaveing hillsboro at 230am to get in the water and across the bar before it starts to rock and roll. I find the crossing better before the tide dips to low. Be careful. Ill be at cr bouy maybe mooching the bottom to wake them up for you all. The new kid on the block.

dewfish- I hope you are joshing. At 5 am there is a 3.3 knot ebb current. At sunrise (5:25) stil l3 knots. At 6 it's still running out at 2.4 knots. Slack current begins right at 8. (these are for the channel just off Clatsop Spit).

The bar is not better at 3.3 knots ebb current than it is at low slack. If it's rough at low slack there's 100:1 odds it will be mush worse on that ebb. The only thing you could do worse than cross at daylight is go out at 4 am when the ebb peaks at 3.6 knots.

Dewfish,

Please listen to Miss B Haven on this one. He has it right. The safest time to go out is at the beginning of the incoming tide, which occurs about a hour after the low. This gives you a 5-6 hour time window to get your fish and get back before the tide begins to ebb. The only advantage I can see to leaving that early is to get a parking spot. Myself, I'll wait until 3:30am for the latest weather forecast, then check the NOAA buoy data for the actual conditions. If all that looks good, I'll hook up the boat and go. See you out there ... maybe.

Dewfish,
I'd be another vote trying to discourage you from crossing during the ebb. Even if you go out to take a peek, it can be difficult to turn around between swells.

Bernie,
If I go into the Navy I'll start out at Bremerton in TPU. But there's a breaking development that may find me taking a govt contractor job in Philly for a lot more pay than I'm making now. So we'll see if it pans out. Right now they are very interested in me and I have a buddy that's senior there that's pulling for me. How's the 20th looking? I should be able to procure a KP by then.

Default Who is doing the CR bouy on Sunday?

Weather permitting I am hitting the CR bouy area Sunday. Who else is going?

Please be careful as it is a minus tide of -1.21 ft at the A jetty and low tide there is at 7:26 am. I am taking a look at it around 5:30am. Watching the weather bouys and wind with the hopes it will all settle down by Sunday morning.

Hope to see you out there. Channel 68 answering to Cindy Lou.

I wish (well, not if that forecast holds). I['ll be sleeping off a wedding reception hangover in the motorhome in Yamhill. Leave me a few for the 4th if ya get out!

Hey- Just noticed, you're "taking a look" at just about max ebb. Personally, I'd sleep in and hit it at about 9:30 and "take a look". Be careful out there.

Yeah I know Mel. Winds should die down over saturday night with swells at 4 and wind chop 1 to 3. Guess we will wait and see. May just wait until 8 to check it out.

I can sum it up in one word. IT SUCKED!

Left the dock at 7:00am with the Lady Dee. Went to idle at 14. Stayed mid channel till 2SJ.
Wind was a constant 15-30 the whole day. Not much ground swell, wind chop was 3 to 5-5 seconds. Could not keep the lines straight.
Everything not strapped down went on the floor, one of those kind of days.
One nice Chinook. Lots of broken leaders and missed strikes. I think the Silvers are still
m.i.a.. You know it's going to be a wash out when you see the Ilwaco boats going the other way at buoy 10. I heard of a couple boats got into some fish early, they must have a hell of a ride on the bar.

Hi Tom, thanks for the report. Saw C&E post that he didn't go out at all. You have to shake all that loose stuff in the boat once in a while so you can find out what you really don't need on board, other wise it just keeps building up. Don't ask me how I know this!

No Silvers? Wow, that's interesting. Come to thnk of it last time I went out with you we only put 1 in the boat. You sure they aren't out there? I think it's just you!

I'll be down Weds afternoon(hoping to be there about 5). See ya!

Turned around between 6 and 8 after I saw Ed and the Slojo headed back in with a thumbs down. Thought I was going to follow the Lady Dee and Tom out but not worth it.....Roger
