Default PeterMac's pix are in!

O.k. I finally got the film developed from the first Hali season. I will preface these pix with Pete's story from a previous post so you understand what took place. By the way, sorry they are so big but I didn't want to lose the detail of all the line!

I am still LMAO!

Quote:
Story? What big fish, I don't know what your talking about, I wasn't even on that boat, I was in Portland getting ready for mother's day. That wasn't me in that picture...... Ya, well there might be just a little itty bitty story to tell .

It kinda had to do with this REALLY big fish. Right guys? You thought it was a big fish too, right? I fought, and I fought, I cursed and I cursed at this monster. My back screamed, my bicep howelled, my knees did there best to keep me upright against the gunnel in the choppy swell. Minutes turned into what seemed like hours, this beast would then take back everything that I had gained, time after time. I became delerious, I was anticipating how much filet weight I would cache of this PIG. Finally, The end is near, my last attempts to get this big guy to the boat were succesful, I had finaly conquered the largest fish to be caught out of Newport this first season, I was to be some sort of local hero, possibly a legend (remeber delerius at this point)? I holler at my fishing mates to ready the gaf, harpoon and pistol, surely we would need all three. And at last, there it is, coming into view, yes, I hear someone say "what's the matter, is it bigger than you thought"? NO WAY, NO WAY, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING TOO ME!!!! Things are beginning to get blurry, for a brief moment I think I have passed out and am dreaming, because this looks nothing like a record Halli, it looks more like a FLIPPIN 5 POUND SABLE FISH!!!!!!!!! What? Huh? What the heck? NOOOOOOOOOOOO, this can't be possible!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAA!!! This little b*****d had wound himself around another rig, so I guess I was fighting a 20 ton charter boat.

Well, needless to say, I was a little embarrassed , but extremely dissappointed . I proceeded to handline in the wayward tuffline, surely my halibut was on the end of this one. I was pulling and pulling, still a little delerious, my fantasy changed from mere hero to certain "legend status", halibut on a hand line HA!!

Well, to make a long story end, after spending way too much time pulling this "ghost line" into the boat, I was able to retrieve someones $3.50 48 oz lead. Oh ya, and I broke my brand new rod too.

The only consolation was that I took that double hook set up, the one that I hand-lined in, and tied to an extra rod, dropped a herring at the pile, and much to our suprise, pulled up a 39" flattie.

Unbelievable, freaking unbelievalbe.

Oh now THAT is priceless! The white tuffline rat's nest shows up quite nicely against your person. Pete, at least you appear to have taken it well (once you knew the camera was on you, right)?

The last time I saw a picture like that it starred Gregory Peck. You...uh...don't happen to have a wooden leg, do you?

How far did you pull that charter boat before he cut his line? "Geez, guys, I dunno. The drift really picked up for a few minutes."

Hey PETER how come i didn't hear about that story while we were in the boat on Sat? Oh well better story to read on the internet. Actually i did hear it i just misinterpreted it. I thiought you had a fish on that was wrapped around the extra line. Oh well i guess i should have listened better.
PETER is a trooper though, and those pictures prove it. After getting a butt kicking he still went back down for FB.

Uh-oh - are we going to have to start editing photos for language? I can clearly read PeterMac's lips in that first photo... and I'm pretty sure the word on them isn't "poop".

See, I can laugh because on my first halibut trip, I caught a rather large vessel, too. Only I didn't get any line or gear back. :depressed:

Oh how I remember the laugh...

First pic was Peter in disgust, second pic was right after I said something about a barley pop. Notice his head popped right up for the cam on that one!

Ya did a mighty fine job of redeeming yourself at the pile my friend!
