Default Where are the fish?

Just looking for a place to start Thursday morning for salmon. It sounds like there is no need to go to the pile. Heard from a guy at work today that his son went to Winchester and put the gear out just out side the jaws and beforw the whistle had 6 nice chinook. Finished the day with total of 10 (2 coho & 8 chinook). Just hope I can have half that luck out of Newport Thursday.

You better check the weather first, as it is going to be howling down there Thursday. You might be able to sneak out early and avoid some of the wind. You can call the Coast Guard at Depoe Bay for a weather undate at 541 765-2124 or an updated recording at 541 765-2122.

Good fishin to you

This morning Newport is socked in with fog, and it will be blowing by 9am or so.
The water turned over yesterday after the NW started, and we went out about 6 miles where the fish were the last few days and NOTHING>>>>not even a bite >>>????

The water never got above 47.8....if I went again I would go to the pile....but not with this forecast.

The fishing has been pretty good here in Coos Bay and Winchester, but unfortunately the wind has been blowing from 25-30 knts every day this week. The morning shot early is a possibility, but you wouldn't have that long to fish, you'd also have to check the tides and if it's a possibility.

When we got there this morning it was so calm that the flags at the car dealer ship as you come in to Newport were not moving at all.We called the coast guard from the parking lot to see what they had to say & they said no restriction. It was great until you got across the bar and in to the fog,but we went out 9 miles and let the gear down, we had been trolling for maybe 15 min. and had one on. It was so small it had trouble getting it out of the clip.It turned out to be a legal chinook but we turned it loose. tried for about a hour more and headed back in.It was a ugly ocean today. Headed to Bonneville dam in the morning to try for some large fish.
