Default Railroad spikes??

Hey WP, did you get a chance to try your railroad spike idea? How did it work? Inquiring minds....

On the softer drifts they worked great and it was a pleasure to have no weigtht to drag up on an empty line. On the faster drifts they tended to float a little more than I would like. I still have not perfected the "release" mechanism though I would love to be able to do it in a more controled manner. We used 6# mono to attach the weight (3-4 spikes)and a quick snap would usually release it. We had a number of occassions where the weights came off too early though. In shallower waters it would not be worth using (like the Rockpile) but at the ranch or other really deep waters, I will continue to develop the methods for using them.
