What that doesn't show is the line of really cold water out behind the warm. Check the real time (not sure this link will work unless you password in):

http://coastwatch.pfel.noaa.gov/cgi-..._n16_wo_s7.cwf

Talk about a temp break!

I'm thinking those TUNA are going to be crossing the bar any second at the CR! What do you troll with in freshwater anyway?
I yelled at a Commercial boat that fishes Tuna last Sat as he was coming by my transom headed for his slip. He said 20 miles. I really thought he was pulling my leg. Sure doesn't look like it does it?

Mel, I was looking at the same thing (outside break). That is a mother of a break, and it's only about 50 - 55 miles from Depoe. The commercial guys are probably slaughtering them out there. You guys up for a slightly long range convoy once it flattens out?

That looks wierd. Does the ocean do that very often? Seems like the albies are getting pinched in that warmer water. Any open seats this weekend? I need some fresh sushi.

Hey- What time is it in IR? Shouldn't you be on bed resting up from catching all those Atlantic Salmonoids?

What's the chances of this warm water staying around until the weekend or is it going to be pushed out? Who's going with me this weekend? The more boats that spread out over a few miles the better.

I won't be out this weekend, as I'll be working...but unless this wind settles down a bit, I don't think too many others will be either. It's blowing pretty good today, at least here in Depoe Bay it is.

Is it wrong of me to link like this? Maybe...

That should be the current image.

Pilar brought over that tuna the other day. Starting to wonder if I could row fast enough in my kayak to troll for tuna, let alone get 20+ miles off of the coast without wanting to befriend a volleball.

Geek- if it's wrong, you and Corrirod are both going down together. Same SST above in this post. It's NOAA sat data so we all paid for it already. I think you're OK, but if it's not I deny all knowledge of this crime and don't know either of you.

See ya on the Ocean (or in jail)

PS- Geek, that would be a federal offence for you since you posted across state lines right?

I hope we have water similar to that over the 4th. I'm planning the maiden tuna adventure for 6/3-6/5.

I'm hoping Threemuch and Keta are able to throw in with us.

We'll have to make the run from Newport because the trailer probablly won't be finished by then. It's in the shop getting all new springs, hardware, and fenders.

Popeye, what do you think?

You think it was worse than 5 & 8? Gee, couldn't tell by me. Smooooooth ride on the Julie Rose III. Although my fellow crew might say different

So... does size really matter? Or is it all about the skipper with the skills?

It looks like we might haul the Pilar to the beach this weekend, but she'll be slipped into dry storage, rather than the salt.

Fishplay- I just sold a boat that sat for a while (dry). Everything was fine until I ran her up wide open for a while and she overheated. After a lot of work and money, the only real thing that was found was crud in the heat exchanger blocking just a little of the tubes. Nothing a good blow down and flush wouldn't correct. I'd check there first. It cost me a lot to go through everything else and then find only that wrong.

Hey, Popeye I'll bring your box back when we drive by. I have to find a new battery for it because the charger carked the old one.

Where can I find a replacement battery? Man, I have to get out of this freaking sawmill soon before I drop dead.

Thanks for the tip MissB. I'm right on track with ya. I already aquired a length of brazing rod to rod out the exchanger.

This is also the same engine that had the waisted raw water impeller. After it was replaced the engine still ran hot. I took the caps off the exchanger and found a chunk of the "rubber star" wedged in the delivery tube. Could just be another chunk causing blockage.

I wasn't on board when the issue arose so I'll just have to start at ground zero and see where it takes me.

Heck the captain of the day didn't even bother to check the water level in the exchanger.
