Tuesday Newport
Great day again on the ocean. Got to the boat and headed out about 0800. Landed 3 chinooks and 3 silvers and went out for a little bottom fishing...by 0915. 11, 12, and 15 lbs on the smilies. Nice ocean, especially considering the forecast. By the time we got in, cleaned fish, and loaded up, the wind was up strong. Glad I went out another day and glad I have decided to stay home until this system has passed! Maybe next week I can strike the salmon again and soon get out into TUNA! Keep the faith brothers and sisters....they are there and we will slaughter them!

Re: Tuesday Newport
Good job on the fish! There is nothing better than some mid-week fishing, wish I could have gotten out there today.
I cannot wait until The Big Blue calms a little and lets us sneak out for some long fin action!!

Re: Tuesday Newport
The fish have been in the 160-180 foot depth stright out or a little south. Nothing fantasy. I have been having success with spoons more than anything else. Good luck to you and to all. This should be a fantastic season!

Re: Tuesday Newport
WP, Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about heading down there on Saturday. I'd like to get my wife and daughter into some fish. I'm hoping the weather will cool off and things will settle down by then.
Looks like tides are a -.78 at 0640 and a high of 5.79 at 1323. Should be a pretty decent bar crossing I would think.

Re: Tuesday Newport
UG, I was looking at that after I posted. Maybe Sunday. The weather watch begins.

Re: Tuesday Newport
Hey WP, when you say that you have been doing well with spoons more than anything else, how do you rig them? Do you run them off a rigger, behind a flasher and diver or ??
Thanks for any help

Re: Tuesday Newport
diver or downrigger...I use both. 15-45 feet deep. I had fish hit twice when I was clipping the line to the downrigger clip so they are on the surface! I have been using a dodger in front of some of the spoons....new idea for me (thanks Fish Assasin)...and some just plain. Doesn't seem to make a difference. Hope these continue to work for a while, it is easy and no bait needed!

Re: Tuesday Newport
Gee Brad, you really know how to kill my Saturday with that weather report. Like the Dog says now it becomes a weather watch.
