My turn!!
I've been nervous all summer whenever I get back to the boat ramp. I have a Toyota Tacoma pickup and I am always fearful someone will swipe my catalytic converter. I have been lucky, until last night. While I was working in downtown Seattle, someone got it while I was parked in a pay lot.
Now after a few days of rain the river is coming up and I have Tuesday and Wednesday off. I won't be fishing though, just working with my insurance company and getting the truck repaired. Ain't life grand?

Re: My turn!!
The only way to get this changed to lobby the legislature to enact laws that prohibit the metal recyclers from excepting those types of materials from individuals and without a completed contractors license agreement of some kind. ******* that make deals with contractors to sell stolen wire and cat converters need jail time.

Re: My turn!!
I saw an ad in the Sweet Home thrifty paper for a scrap metal dealer who will buy catalytic converters. He may as well have put in his ad "I'll buy your stolen stuff."

seems like a reverse sting would bring the perps to your front door. you could get plate numbers and ID's and who knows what else from that info.....

Re: My turn!!
Are these welded in the exhaust or are they bolted? Are they unbolting these or sawing through the exhaust. Some cheap insurance might be to weld the bolt to the nut on the Cat flanges.

Re: My turn!!
Look under a dodge diesel. two u bolts holding a cat in line. Was informed the cats are going for 500 bicks or more in the yards.
Scrap yard manager ,told me the cat wil sell new for 2000 bucks or more and his yard pays close to 500 for the large ones and a small cat can bring a couple hundred to these slim balls. There is no id on the cats for dealers to prove it is stolen. So they can buy them.

Re: My turn!!
Check out Catclamp online. A sawzall couldn't even cut through it. I'll be investing in one for my Tundra.

Looks good, but it did mention that it takes a special tool to install, that is sold separately. But is definitely work the price if it deter's 1 tweeker!!!

Re: My turn!!
I'm getting it replaced with an aftermarket ceramic converter. Hopefully they will see that and realize it won't be worth much. If not they will be disappointed at the metal dealer. If I park in the right place near where I work I can have my truck on camera. I was parked behind a tree last time. The lot is only a couple of hundred yards away. It sure would be nice apprehend one of these scumbags.

Many small dealers seem to be one rung up the ladder from tweekers. Or it's a sting operation.
