Pontoon Boats
ORS piqued my interest in these at the Sportsman Show. So I am thinking of getting one or two in the future but would like to actually use one to see how they work and if I would really like them. I know Bruce at WaterReady rents them but I don't want to have to drive all the way down there as I don't know any water down there. I would like to do the Sandy say Oxbow down or Dabney down.
Does anyone know where a guy could get to use one for the Sandy?

Re: Pontoon Boats
Rooster San,
An interesting idea. I might just take you up on that, especially if Bruce runs with us. Let me noodle this one
Let's see new technique, new friends and new water, all in the same day.
ifish rocks!

Re: Pontoon Boats
Sounds good to me. How about a friday ?
Bruce, no garauntee's your gonna sell anything, but that'd be awesome if you could join us !
How about an Ifish demo day ? Bruce, you pick the day that you could float with us, and we could sign up until all the 'toons are spoken for. We could convoy down from portland and slaughter some santiam steel !!!
Solarcaine - you up for it ?

:depressed: :depressed: :depressed:
I've lost my pontoon. :depressed: :depressed: :depressed:
Bill decided to try it out today. I shuttled him, as I have work to do, and I don't fit well on the back.
He just called. He's one happy camper. He's a drift boat owner from way back. Here is what he said.
"No fish, but enjoying a wonderful boat ride. This thing handles like a dream, and I don't want to come home!"
??? GET BACK HERE WITH MY CAT!!!!

Re: Pontoon Boats
I'm really rusty on whitewater shops in Oregon. We rarely ran into them unless we needed something in an emergency. But I know all the shops up here in WA. Most whitewater shops rent boats. Down in Oregon there used to be several. Most of these whitewater shops rent out small pontoon/catarafts. Try doing a search for Northwest Rafters Association. Find their webpage. You can ask them for shops or links to shops that rent out boats (we had several members who used to rent instead of buy). I do know most (at least up here) rent down to a size 10' boat. Try that route. I can tell you where to rent up here in Washington. LOL. But doesn't help you down there.

Re: Pontoon Boats
I,m on it. And also there!! Need a total count of tooner-ifishers. I have 8 that can run, only 2 set up like the Rapidcat ifish DLX. So 10 total. Would be awesome to put them all on the river again. If it's just a run and you all get to learn new water, thats way cool! I started this for renting to fishermen and recreational summer floaters. If I sell some along the way, it works. Re: Pontoon Boats
I'm in Bruce, but I think Safety Chain (Gregg) already reserved our toons for the 5th of March. Really looking forward to it.
So how technical is the water ? I don't have too much experience with the oars.
So how many of these can you have fish-ready for the 5th of March ? Any other Ifishers care for a demo run/steelhead slaughter on the 5th ?

Re: Pontoon Boats
Solarcaine, you too ?
Actually, I've been eyeballin' the pontoons for a while now. I don't know of anyone local that rents them, but if you want we could go down to Lyons and float the santiam together. Safety in numbers kinda thing.
I'm not real familiar with the santiam either, but I figure if you go ahead of me and you get into trouble, I'll know not take the same line you did.
But seriously, if you want to do the float. Send me a PM. I'll drive

Re: Pontoon Boats
Great to have you along! The stretch we will be on is nothing too technical, but could be some great fishing.
As far as working the sticks, The river does all of the "hard work" moving you down the river, all you have to do is steer, and catch fish!
Happy Fishn'

Re: Pontoon Boats
Hey Water Ready. What stretch of the river are you guys going to float? Might be interested me own self. I`ve floated it from Packsaddle to Jefferson at one time or another, but it`s been quite a while. FF.

Re: Pontoon Boats
Sorry feller's,
Just got home. I love working alone, just takes longer to get home some days. Not ready to yeild yet though.
Fishfeet---Come and join in! All of the toons that have the really cool fishn' stuff on em' are spoken for, but, I still have some pontoons that are not set up, but still work! ifishers get a better rental rate. Call if you have questions. Do it soon though cause toons are getting ate up. Plus if your up north, might be able to hitch a ride. My numbers on the website. We will be going from Mill City to Lyons. Good trip for newbies to fish an learn the sticks. March 5 is the day, We'll shove off at 8:00 a.m. If you all want to go sooner let me know! Very cool! Happy Fishn'

Water Ready - So, what's the deal here - I might be interested in this....what river and how much for the rental? You got an open spot left? Would the be just a float or float and fish?

Re: Pontoon Boats
Solarcaine and I will definitely be fishing. It'd be a shame to hit this river and not bring the gear along. If anyone wants to go from Portland, send me or Safety Chain a PM and we could probably arrange a carpool.

Re: Pontoon Boats
Count me in. I floated from Fisherman's Bend to Lyons last year in my pontoon. This is a good stretch of river to test these boats....lots of fishy water.
