Default Rifle scope question

Ok so I just bought a new scope and my rings seem to big enough to hold my 4-12x50mm scope. Question that I have is I am going to go sight it in tomorrow. When I mounted the scope to the rifle the front end of the scope touches the rifle barrle not by much but a little bit of the scope does. Will that harm the scope by dealigning the scope or breaking it By it touching the barrel. Thanks a ton..

I was always told that with the 50mm scope, you need the high ring bases.

Now the question is, when you put the rifle to your Shoulder do you have to move around to get the correct sight picture and will your cheek be solid on the stock.

I ran into this kind of trouble with a 3 x 9 x 50 scope, and wound up going to ? x ? x 40 scope and lower rings so I could through the rifle to my shoulder and get the correct sight picture with out moving my head, makes the world of difference in Acquiring the animal in your sights.
