Default Depoe Bay Clinic Success

Thanks to DepoeBayDan for hosting a great deep sea fishing clinic.

He brought jigs, showed us the Depoe Bay rules, hazards, and bottom fishing reefs.

Uglygreen & I had boats and met DepoeBayDan at the dock. We got a late start but went after coho first. Dan caught the first two on Uglygreen's boat using a chartreuse Coyote. Smily was on my boat and caught an 8#. My Father-in-law crackered off 1. Then we went after some bottom fish, but soon as we got there, Uglygreen had bildge pump trouble and had to go in. I followed him back to the entrance, and Dan showed us some other reefs. Not too much action so we went back out 2 miles for more coho. My Father-in-law crackered off another, then I got a 6#. Smily got another 6#. We went back to Whale Cove where Smily boated a nice ling cod. I got some bass.

We went in for a short stop to find out that Uglygreen was out of commission. He was leaving, so I invited Dan to go back out with us, and he showed us Government Point. Dan was hooking bass left & right along with a double (maybe he will post the pic). The rest of us had a good time catching bass and releasing small ling cod. Called it a day when a big squall came at 4:00.
It was a great day fishing.

Dan, you're welcome on my boat any time.

Uglygreen, I hope your electrical short is quickly fixed and not too expensive.

Cheerio'

Nice chatting with you Jim. We hooked some fish , just could not find the biggins. Dad got a real nice king around 16lbs and we kept two smallish cohos around the 4 to 5 lb class.

Sunday was a different story. Nice ocean, and the kings were on the bite! Pop's put on a clinic out there and hooked king after king after king. We kept 3 nice kings and release some nice coho and a one king that we probably should have kept but were looking for something a little bigger. If we had not released that fish we could have been done at 7:30. Oh well. Cooked up some fresh ocean king last night. WOW!!!!! Yummy!

What a great little bay!!!!A fun time was had by all. Even though I turned a little green for a while. (That's another thread) As Skipper said, we caught a little this, a little of that. Here a little and there a little and we all go home with fish. Thanks and To DepoeBay Dan for showing us around and that great hospitality he had provided. Good meeting Uglygreen too and hope your boat gets fixed quick so you can head back out there.

It was also good to chat with the other Ifsiher's on the radio to hear how they were doing. No matter how many we crackered off that day.

Thanks again Skipper for the Ride and DepoeBayDan for showing us around.
