Launch Fees at Depoe Bay.
The launch ramp fee at Depoe Bay is a measly $2
Best deal on the coast. Works on the honor system.
Talking to the maintaince guy there was $21 bucks in the box for the probably 30-40 rigs in the parking lot and on the street on saturday. I didn't have change and put a $5 into the box. That leaves $16 bucks for everybody else.
Thats pretty lame.

Re: Launch Fees at Depoe Bay.
If it doesn't get payed they could get nasty. This ramp is well maintained and this costs $$$
Pay the fee.

Re: Launch Fees at Depoe Bay.
Sadly this is very true...then those of us who buy annual slip end up paying the brunt of the fees, even though we don't hardly use the launch ramp itself.
Personally I'd like to see more enforcement of the launch fee. Something similar to what Newport uses even, where you must display a numbered tag in your windshield, and can be ticketed if the cooresponding envelope with fee isn't in the box.

Re: Launch Fees at Depoe Bay.
Dan,
I really apppreciate that kind of effort. This is the way that great situations like Depoe can continue.
Hard to believe that anyone would not pay a measly $2 to use the facilities...the cleaning station alone is worth more than that! I personally just leave $5 each trip...I believe in paying for the "service" (and facilities) that I use and appreciate. I would rather give $5 to Depoe than have to pay for inferior facilities, in disrepair and have to deal with bad attitudes to boot! Lets keep Depoe Bay the jewel it is, everyone needs to happily...PAY THE FEE!!!!

Dan! Way to go! That's what we did evening after tuna fishing. Haul the carks out to the dumpster, wash down the walls and floor and clean the counters and sinks. Leave it better 'n you found it is my motto. It may be Gary's "job" to clean it, but Gary does lots of other things for us. It's a trade. And we're always welcome back.

Re: Launch Fees at Depoe Bay.
The pay sign is small but if you are wondering and looking for a launch fee box, it is very clearly marked. I found it and put in my $2. Next time I'll put in more.
Thanks Dan for bringing jigs, showing us the Depoe Bay rules, hazards, and bottom fishing reefs. You are welcome on my boat any time.
It was a great day fishing on Sat.
Uglygreen, I hope your electrical short is quickly fixed and not too expensive.

Re: Launch Fees at Depoe Bay.
That is a bargin of a fee. Sounds as if Depoe Bay is a port of "Men Without Honor".
Newport charges 6.00 and there ramp maintanence is the worst I've ever seen.
The starboard side is tore all to heck and has big holes in it. It cost me a broken spring this weekend. 10,000lb boats, old trailers and Newport ramp chuck holes are not a friendly combination.

Re: Launch Fees at Depoe Bay.
That's what some guy's do anyway Swampy according to Gary the harbormaster. Some guys don't have change and will put a 5 spot in there like Brad did and the next time not put in anything. It is an honor system but obviously some guy's are skating.
I don't know that there is a real noticable sign that the average half awake fishermen would notice at dark thirty in the morning? Have to check that one out.
I fileted a friends 43# halibut last night at about 8:00pm after they returned. Gained a quarter of a halibut.
The filet station was left a big mess and knowing Gary had a long tough day (coho, halibut and bottomfish), I spent about 30 minutes or better cleaning that place out. Bet he was surprised. I cleaned out the station, surrounding walls and floors, etc. It's not an easy one to clean up.
