Another Newbie
Been cruz'n around a while and thought it was time to intorduce myself. I'm Ron Hendrickson, enjoy hunting, rifle/bow/shotgun. Fishing and most anything outdoors. We especially like to get away to a little piece of land near La Pine for camping, kids, and R&R.
This is an awesome site and it's clear it's full of good people. I enjoy the stories and information sharing and look forward to contributing some of my own.
Looks like it's been a good year so far for, good luck to the rest!!

Re: Another Newbie
A story huh? Well, it's not real eventful but very memorable. It was the 2006 rifle season in the Paulina unit and my son and I each got our bucks opening morning. I stumbled on one pretty quick and of course as soon as it dropped, I saw two MUCH nicer bucks, trot off. I think they purposely had this "any visible antler" guy standing in the open. We drug him back to the truck and headed to another spot. Not far away I dropped Mason off to intercept a couple bucks we'd seen go into the timber. About 10 seconds later... BOOM, the radio silence was broken by "Got one down"! By 9:00 we were back at our little cabin, posing for photo opps.
It was a great feeling and experience, and sometimes memories are the best trophys.
I'll always remember my first Bull with a bow, (many moons ago when gas was cheap) we spent a week in the Desolation unit chasing elk and having no success. Saturday after our evening hunt, my buddy and I packed up and drove straight through to the Wilson unit. (yea, that Wilson unit on the coast) Made a camp and crashed. Got up late, drove to the first clear cut we came to, got out and look over the side to see a herd standing their 40 yards looking up at us. Arrowed a nice 4x4 bull standing broadside. Hadn't even had coffee yet.
