First elk kill...
I will post some pic as soon as i find the adapter to my camera
wednesday night my buddy that i had archery hunted with the last 3 years called me up and asked if i wanted to go out for the evning, and i said sure. by time we got out of the truck we only had about a hour and 45 minutes of light. we started in down the gravle road, about a 50 minute walk to the clearcuts we wanted to glass. we got up top and we spotted the lone bull right away. the elk had just came out of the timber into a fresh cut about 600 yds away. we worked our way down the road as soon as the elk went into a dip in the clear cut. we got to a spur road that went threw the clear cut and my partner set up behind me about a hundred yards. i settled down behind a slash pile and glassed the bull that was still about 300 yds away and headed in our direction. the bull was slowly making his way to us but day light was going to be an issue so my partner started cow calling, which indeed got the bulls attention and he started coming in. i was able to watch the bull the hole way in and at one point he gave us a scare cause he started to head down hill towards my partner, if he did this he could have winded me. but he decided to stay on the ridge and stay up above me. and that was his worst mistake! He ended up walking right to me and at 22 yds slightly angling towards me i let the arrow fly! He ran maybe 10 yards onto the road and stood there not knowing what just happened facing the direction he came from. i thought...if hes just going to stand there im going wack him again. i knocked another arrow and looked back up at him just in time to see him take 2 steps backwards, do a little wobble and down he went 30 yds infront of me in the middle of the road! I had just killed my first elk small 4x4 durring my 4th season of bow hunting. it was an amazing experience so see everything workout just right and have him fall still within sight.
ill get some pics up as soon as i can
Mike

Nice story also, gotta love those hunts that get put together at the last minute.
I wonder why those are always the ones that turn out to have the best stories?

Re: First elk kill...
Nice job! Gotta love a properly placed arrow. Sounds like he didn't even know he was hit.
