Thanks guys.... Dad and I put in for the same day, because it was the best day that worked for us to hunt together and we wanted a better chance of getting something!
We will be on the West side Opening day!

Re: Period A SI results are online.
I drew race track on the 10-13-08 I will be there to hunt! By looking at last years numbers, there is a 4.0 birds per hunter average! I suppose somone shot up all the coots lol! That means I get to hunt Saturday the opener in Salem and Monday at SI can beat it, glad my vacation plans are working out so far! All I need are some ducks!

Do realize that 10/13 last year was opening day and it's not this year.
You might want to compare with 10/15 for perspective....

Not just coots, but plenty of spoonies, and pintails from what I remember last year. Some of the mallards will be in eclipse phase, with drakes young drakes and hens looking similar, remember the beaks.
Don't kill everything, I'll be working cleanup.
RACETRACK (#A1510)...

RACETRACK (#A1510)...
|
Yesterday, while out giving the Pheasant Hunt a try, we saw a few flushed (and shot at) Roosters fly over the Dike and into Racetrack.
Seeing that we figured there might be a few over there hiding in the bushes and tall grass, we headed over that way.
Cresting the levy I was surprised to discover that once again the entire lake was full of Tules!
We didn't go around the lake, on the side with the blinds, so I can't say how it looks over there. But I remember how it was about 4 seasons ago when it had Tules covering most of the lake and it seemed to me that the hunting on a couple of blinds was pretty "diminished"
Just a little heads up for those of you who like hunting Racetrack.
