Default bigfoot?

Just curious...what does it mean when a motor is a "bigfoot"? As in a Merc 9.9 bigfoot. How does that motor differ from a Merc 9.9?

It's the "High-Thrust" model with lower lower-unit gear ratio and larger prop. More torque. Best suited as kicker/trolling motor, not necessarily as "main" power on a planing-style hull.

So a bigfoot or high thrust wouldn't be the best choice for a drift boat?..if there is such a thing as a best choice for a drift boat!

IMHO a High-Thrust 9.9 is waaaay more kicker than you need on a drifter. I would go with a 6 or 8 hp "standard" kicker. The high-thrust models won't slow down far-enough, unless you have the blades of the prop cut-down a little.

I have a 8hp merc 4 stroke and it is a little fast for running kok gear. 6 hp might be better, just my 2 cents
