Default First Time Downrigger For Chinook?

Good evening Salty Dogs This Sat. for the first time I'am going to be using a downrigger. I'am going to be running two lines of it. We will be fishing in and around the 30 fathom line. Is there any special depth that these fish like to run at now that I have a depth counter? I was thinking of just fishing the depthfinder and trying to mark fish in groups and fishing that depth a little deeper than coho. Fishing the prop wash for them and running the downrigger of the side. As you can see I'am new to this so any advice for the downrigger with depth or any positive's and negetives that may go along with it that a rookie may not know would be great to hear. Thanks again and good luck and be Safe

You'll definately want to keep an eye on your fishfinder to see where the nooks are but for the coho I usually stay at the 20ft. mark. Nooks are "usually" deeper but last year for some reason we caught nooks up in the coho water all summer. Depending on where I'm at I will drop the riggers to 75-100ft. down when targeting nooks. This early in the season though they could be even 200+ ft. down. Just keep adjusting your depths till you find them. It's a little easier if you have more than one downrigger also.

Good luck! There's no better way to catch fish in the ocean than off downriggers!

Oh yeah, you might try doing a search in last years archives also. There should be tons of info in there.
