Default Newport Bar Crossing for 6/22

Got a quick question for you sea fairing dogs. I plan on taking my sled out of Newport on Sunday to chase coho's. Looks as if high is around 7:30 in the am. It doesn't look like there will be much of a water exchange from ebb to low so my question is would crossing back over the bar during the ebb be a problem under those conditions? I am hoping for a quick limit of silvers and being back at the dock before noon. Looks like the ocean conditions just keep getting better.

Thanks,
Chris

Tacklebuster,

If I had to guess, based on what the tides look like, you should be o.k.

I would advise you to get out early though on the incoming tide so you can get back quick if need be. Sunrise is around 5:30. I'd try to get out as soon as there was some light out. The winds don't usually kick up till the afternoon and the tide change is at 1:31pm. If you get caught out there and the bar is too rough during the ebb you shouldn't have to wait much past the change before it settles down but I don't think it'll even give you a problem.

You're more likely to have a problem with the ocean that day than the bar. Good luck and we may cross pathes if I can't get out for tuna.
