Default Pilar Newport Update

Just got off the horn with John, capitan of Pilar. He says the ocean is calming after a day of white caps, etc.... None now, mellowing out.

Today was a quiet pre-emptive day at the coast, a few fresh herring, and probably a barley pop or two . The Pilar is in slip C70 for those of you that may need to locate them....

Tomorrow has a little halli fishing in store, a little more in-shore than the usual haunts... Probably more on this later,,depending....

Friday, dare I say, well what the heck, TUNA TUNA TUNA weather gods permitting!! Saturday, well, MY fingers are crossed, again, TUNA TUNA TUNA.... (I am on the boat that day).

There you have it, the suspense of what was going on down there was killing me, and maybe some of the rest of you too, so I thought I would give a little report  .

Well........ any BFB's on the carking station yet?? How was the ocean, rough, smooth, in between? Where did they fish, how big were the fish? Anybody in yet? Did they find tuna and that is why the BFB is sitting on ice in the boat not getting carked? Did they look for tuna?....

I haven't heard a thing.

Left a message for Pilar to call and provide an update. He must either be out of cell range or busy carking fish!

Halibut fishing was good...ocean was good. Saw that Rosta Ruck had their limit of five. Taylor's Viewpoint had her limit of four halibut after two drifts and got three takedowns on a quick chinook test. I am sure more good reports to come.

We were back by 11 am with our limit of 3. 50#, 40# and 25#. Made 20 knots going out and 25 knots coming back. 3 drops and 3 fish. A really nice day. It's supposed to be even flatter tomorrow.
