Default Overnighting in Newport

Can a guy crash in his rig at the Newport Marina or the South Jetty? I was thinking about heading down on Thursday night and just sleeping in my rig so I don’t have to get up a 0200 to catch my hali ride on Friday.

Rich,
You may want to call the tackle shop but I was told that you could park your rig at the far left parking area (if you are facing the store)and crash.

You'll see me out there. But, the guy comes around at night and you have to pay for sleeping there. $15/night.

Don't go into the marina parking lot. Follow the road to the end. There's a turnaround there overlooking the bay. Good place to crash. Did several times with boat last year without being rousted.

Thanks guys.

Skein, Thanks for the invite. Fish camp sounded booked up so I figured I'd go elsewhere. I won't have my boat but need plenty of room for my truck.

I'll find something.

Thanks Pilar's mate, uh, OceanBlue I'll remember that.

Any thoughts on the South Jetty? Wouldn't mind being lulled to sleep by the crashing waves.

WaterDog - Never tried the south jetty. Might work out, but it is not as isolated as the spot I mentioned earlier. I don't recall for sure, but I *think* I saw signs posted "no overnight parking" when I was last at the south jetty. DepoeBayDan might know more.

FA - do you remember when I made the joke about changing my name to Ocean? Been thinking about it ever since.

Waterdog,

I'd say come by Fish Camp and crash but I think we've got all the boats and rigs we can handle. We could try to find you a place to sleep, but you probably want to be with your boat. Come on by for some eats and yarning, though, 'cause we will have plenty of both.
