Default Outlaw Baits

I had Jeff from Outlaw Baits in my shop the other day to check out a T-shirt prototype. We talked a bit about Stan Fagerstroms' column on ifish and steelhead worms then Jeff left. Now today what should come in the mail but a goody bag of Outlaw Baits stuff. Thanks Jeff I can't wait to give it a try.

I have a pretty good idea of what to do with the worms but does anyone have any tips for rigging the steelie tubes? I thought I might try it with a jig head hook ( if I can find some strong ones ) and a little scent inside the tube, but I'd love to hear any other suggestions.
Thanks.

Jighead works for the tubes and also rigging the tubes on a treble hook behind a spin glow has merit too.

slide your favorite pink corkie or cheater size #14 or #12 down to your hook then take a bait threader and rig the tube upside down with the tube fingers or legs facing away from corkie and hook. I've had some success as of late with tubes this way.

I've been using the Gamakatsu tube jigheads in 1/16th and 1/8th oz. Put the tubes on the jig as if you were rigging for bass. They look great in the water and the fish think they are ok too!

The challenge is to find tube jig hooks that are able to withstand the pressure a big steelie can exert on a hook....I straightened many a hook on fish as I learned to fish with them!

Take the hooks off a wiggle wart, tie leader from belly eye (apprx 3 to 4ft)....small corkie, hook, tube....that or pink worm, either will kill them.

I've used the tube styles before by sliding a few 4-5 mm beads down my leader, then threading the leader up through the inside of the tube and out the top. Then just slide the tube down your leader, and use the beads as a body filler and to keeop it from ripping down over the hook. Plus, you can trap a little air in there, helping ot float them over snags on the bottom. Good Luck...

Thank you all for the great tips. I'll probably give the spin n glo a try first since I've got those. I'm on the lookout for some of those Gamakatsu jig hooks though. Havn't seen any in Eugene. I like jignfloats idea with the wiggle wart. Never tried that but then again I dont have a boat so I dont do much plug pulling. Someday soon I hope. Thanks again.
