There will always be rumors flying when somone accomplishes something great- I know, I have to deal with it daily (not- he he ).
By "accomplishment" I'm not referring to this guy shooting this huge bull, I'm more referring to his hard work in college and dedication that it took to land the big BANK, which it seems is all it took for this trophy. I don't mean that with sarcasm- I really am impressed with people that can nail down successful carreers and still have other passions.
I don't think it's fair to knock the current state record out (an archery kill). I think of a record holder as a person who did the best among others on an EVEN playing field, not a person who was the only one on the playing field because of his money. To me, Jeff Thorpe is the record holder.
What's amazing to me is the dedication and commitment by the hunter and the guide(s) in this case to get it done!

Doesnt seem to lay any rumor to rest unless your talking about the rumor of it being taken in Oregon.

If you check book looks like mine - it will be awhile

I know all too well about hunters getting jealous over an accomplishment. Couple years back I shot this HUGE nutria. It took a big scoop shovel to pick it up. When I took it home and weighed it on the bathroom scale while my wife was sleeping - I knew I had what could potentially be the biggest nutria ever taken in south Salem.

Anyway. Word got out that I have potentially baited the beast and then shot him with a 50 caliber instead of my bow, which as we know could have knocked me out the P&Y books.

There was so much drama surrounding the animal that I eventually dropped back into the shadows with my trophy. That is probably why you haven't heard about this event til now. The struggles that Dan is going through have given me the courage to finally step out into the open.

People need to lighten up

How about all those BC moles being bagged in the Ifish summer mole contest. Now there's some bragging rights.

Oh that's what you are calling now. I see.

A few years ago it was a "black bear"....now it's a nutria.

The point of the record books, folks, is to honor the animal. I think we all are admired.

Then they should enter it with the animal's name, not the hunter's. I see your point, but it generally doesn't work out that way.

"I know all too well about hunters getting jealous over an accomplishment."

While your sarcasm strikes my funny bone, that statement has really hit home for me this season. Won't go in to great detail but suffice it to say that I will not be hunting with some people that I used to consider "good eggs" to spend time in the woods with. Should be green from camo not envy.

btw, lets blow the dust off that pig of a rodent and see some pics!

Phil, I have been there too. I recently cut ties with a guy I knew for years over a jealous fit he through. It was a shame. Ridiculous, but a shame.

I'll look for the photos of my Boone and Crocket Nutria. OMMedia was going to put a tape on the skull, but realized that his tape only stretched to 36 inches , so we havent got an "official" score yet.

I don't know if I mentioned that I'm also dating a set of 20 year old super model triplets from Canada but we have agreed to see other people

So how are the beaded lumber jacks
You are right i had the same problem with a guy in Georgia when i shot a 160 plus whitetail on property we both had promission to hunt. we would rotate stands. it just happen to be the day i rotated in to a stand we both knew was going to produce a big animal. i was just lucky, it ruined our friendship. A animal is just not worth it.

Sheesh...sounds like we need a "haze Will" thread. Now we're getting off topic.
funny, but off topic.
