Handsfree Cellular?
Can anyone make suggestions to a good handsfree cell phone system for the car?
I am looking for something more than just a bluetooth earpiece.
I have been considering the rearview mirrors with a speaker and FM transmitter to hear the caller on your car's speakers.
I have been comparing them on ebay, costco.com, BestBuy.com.
They range from $75.00 to $150.00.
I'd like to stay under $100.
Anybody have any experience with these?
Or suggestions to what may be a better option?
Any retail outlets that may have these?
Thinking of checking out Stereo King.
May this thread begin :lurk:

Re: Handsfree Cellular?
May as well stick with bluetooth.
I have not heard the best of reviews about those products. NJ has a well enforced no cell phone law and from what I have read, a lot of the radio transmitters for cell phones dont work well in areas with lots of radio stations.
The technology is good if you are out in the sticks, but even getting close to PDX may be a hassle with all the radio frequencies floating around.
Just my thoughts, no science or experience behind it.

Re: Handsfree Cellular?
Thanks. This is a Bluetooth device, but with speakers.
Caller I.D. and the incoming ph# display on the mirror.
Anyone??

Re: Handsfree Cellular?
I just picked up a few blue tooth devices for hands free operation.
The users did not want to look "weird" with an ear piece sticking out of their ears. They only wanted it for in the car use.
I researched and bought MOTOROKR T505.<-- Weird spelling but that is correct. It is actually kind of slick. It goes on your visor, it has a built in mic and speaker. Or you can tune it to your radio so the sounds come through the speakers. It does not have a caller ID that you look at but it speaks to you. "Call from 503.555.1212". You push one button and you are talking. It seems like the price was just under $90 per unit. It might be worth checking into. Good luck.

Re: Handsfree Cellular?
It's not in the under $100 range, but most Garmin Nuvi's and streetpilot (C series) have blue tooth and allow communication with your cellphone through a built in microphone and speaker. Not as loud as over your car speakers, but you don't have to tune anything in. We have the C550 and it works great with our cell phones. It can access the phones call list, phonebook, and can even make a call to a business in the gps built in places of interest. We got ours at Costco online for $199.
