A true Ero mount has the upper teeth cut away. By doing this the skull lies flat againist the board.

David Boyce went into a 15 minute rant of epic tone about leaving the teeth in. It had to do with the French! We were in Burns at his Antelope drop off camp. He was making Brat decoys. It was a short stop that turned into a hour. I received that mount, that he refered to as a Western skull mount, just before Thanksgiving, than I found out David died that weekend, using those Brant decoys....I miss David.

Do a search on Euromounts and cleaning skulls, there has been a lot of good threads in the past on this subject. There are several methods of cleaning a skull, boiling, burying, beetles. Then there is peroxide whitening. Then there is mounting to a plaque.

I just got done boiling my bull's skull. I was going to take it in to have the bug's clean it, but I waited too long as they won't take it if it has maggots in it. It looks good so far, but I have more work to do on it.

Last year I buried mine after cutting away everything I could off of the skull. I checked it 5 or 6 months later and there was nothing left, but one tiny piece of brain that fell out. I thought it was ruined because it was black. After spraying it off with the hose everything came right off and then I boiled it for a few hours to try and clean it up. I had one of those kits from cabelas that came with a bunch of chemicals to make it completely white. I don't really like how those look so I just put some borax in with the pot while it boiled and that cleaned it up enough for me. After it dried I put a few coats of matte clear spray on it just in case I guess. It came out real nice, the wood deal in the kit isn't the greatest to mount it on but it came out nice.

Beetles are the best way to clean it . call your local taxidermist and they can do a job you will be proud to hang and show off for years to come.

I did the boiling/peroxide route myself. Made the shelf out of barn wood from the ranch. I like it.
