Does that water SW of Coos bay look warm or what? I'll bet Bill and a few of his cousins are lurking around in there...

Looks like a 22-25 mile run from Port Orford. Maybe I don't have to leave for Baja next week to catch Mr. Bill

Super clear satellite shot today via coastwatch. It is really, really cooking a bit offshore; warmest water this year. Mid to upper 60's inside the 126 line off the northern coast.

Man your battle stations folks!

(Sing with me to the tune of Peter Cottontail)
Charlie and Bill with the turbo tail,
swimmin up the tuna trail,
flippity floppity the seasons on it's way!

Get my big yella po and a new broomtail,
Lift up the rod and flip the bail,
flippity floppity the seasons on it's way!

Get the boat up to speed, don't be a snail,
Wait for the zzzzzzzzzzz and reel like "hail",
flippity floppity the seasons on it's way!

Just got off the phone with my nephew. He says that the rockfish hole ten miles off Winchester Bay had temps of 58 degrees. He thought that his sea temp gauge was broken but his second sea temp gauge on the depthfinder said the same thing.

I guess I better hurry on my honeydews. Rich was saying he was thinking of doing some exploring next week.

Looking at Terrafin, it looks like the water a very short distance off Depoe Bay is near 60 degrees. Easily inside of 30 miles offshore it appears.

Man, I wanna get my boat up here. I can sence'em out there!!

My dad and I were looking at the same thing yesterday on terrafin out of coos bay. It's looking pretty good for us so far, but we're at about 40 miles for tuna water right now. If it creaps in another 10 we're on it. Now we just need a little warm weather and some smooth ocean to kick the season off.

Wow, looking at this afternoons Terrafin shot, looks like 60 degree water straight out from Depoe Bay. Wish the Sea Jypzee were up here already. I can see them Albacore chomping at the clones behind the boat already!!

Hmmmm, it looks like the warm water that's been offshore is becoming less pronounced though.

This is the anomaly page that shows variation from the normals. It was much more pronounced off OR and WA coasts for the last week or so....looks to be breaking up a bit now.
