Default Copyright Question

How do you figure out if a image you find on the interwebs is conpyrighted?

I found one I'd like to use for non-commercial purposes. It is the graphic an unknown band back east uses in their promotions.

I've tried finding a way to contact them but can find no email link.

Any help?

I do believe that by default they are copyrighted. They would have to say otherwise.

Dave is correct. Anything published is defacto under copyright, and the internet counts as publishing.
