Not sure about nehalem, but yaquina was great on 6/6 and 6/7. We limited on 6/6 in about 3hrs, just before high slack. Had to work a little harder on 6/7, but still had great results. Should have been there.

Tonyz

We crabbed over there the 1st of June. Got two crabs altho we did release some humongus females. We put our traps near those concrete pillars that are in the water just upstream from Brighton. That was our best spot last year. Soaked the traps overnight and only got the two keepers out of 5 traps. We did better at crab harbor. About 20% were fairly soft shelled and not filled out. It wasn't crowded and too rough to be on the jetty.
Good luck

Thanks Todd for the salt, the reason I am asking is they are having a crabbing derby at the jetty fishery 14/15 of june for the wheeler childrens hospital. We attended last year and had a great time.

We picked up 11 crabs offshore last Friday, north of the jetty, at ~30ft, with an overnight soak.. using fish and chicken... Two of our traps came up empty... caught more females and undersized crabs than usual... and more crabs were caught further away from the jetty entrance... based on last year's results, we expected a better catch... good luck..

I noticed that the Nehalem Crab Derby is this weekend so you might have some company. They are marking 26 crabs A-Z and if you get one you get the corresponding prize. One prize of mention is a free vasectomy so good luck. (NO LIE, I read it in the Oregonian!)

We'll I didn't win the vasectomy but I did win the 500.00 dollars saturday and nothing on sunday. But then I didn't give it as much effort either. There is now a new sport invented called Obsticle Course Crabbing,it was crazy out there.

Last year they gave away the vasectomy and the guy who won it has 7 kids.
