Default Fresh water tank on Trophy leaking

Filled up my fresh water tank for the first time since I have had this boat. 91 23' Trophy. Not only did I fill the tank but the lower front of the hull too!

I got into the side bunk to a one foot access hatch to take a look. What a terrible location for this tank. I am not even sure I could get the thing out to check the problem. Anyone have experience with this kind of thing. Where can I buy a new tank for the best price? I think I may just mount a tank behind the captains chair for this year but that would look ugly. I also took out the right side panel and you can kind of see the tank from there but I just do not see a way to get the darn thing out.

Suggestions are appreciated a valued.

I have an '87 21'er and the plywood rotted under my tank and it is just rattling around under there now. Mine sits just ahead of the fuel tank and I could reach in that mini access hole on the port side bunk and grab the tank and move it around if I wanted. If you can't see it through the access hole, then yours may be in a different location. I think I may be able to unhook the tank and affect a repair through the access hole, but it is going to be a pain in the ...

I may widen out the access hole to gain more room to work, or I will have to pull the motor and fuel tank to gain access.

If your tank is damaged and it is not just a loose fitting, I see no way to remove the tank other than removing the motor and fuel tank. If you just have a loose fitting, you may be able to widen the access hole and get things tightened up.

I would check with the folks at boatfix.com to find a new tank if you need one.

Thanks Orca. I cannot see any damage to the tank and it is in the hold solid. Cannot see the whole tank so I cannot attest to all the connectors or lines being solid yet as I have not got that far. As you said it appears that I would have to pull the motor, fuel tank and my wisdom teeth to get the thing out. Sure hate the thought of cutting any more holes though. This is a very sound and solid boat. Would like to keep her that way.

I did think about putting a water tank in my center fish box. looks like there would be enough room there.
