Default Magellan FX324 Color GPS Opinions?

Yes, I am buying jewelry for the new boat. Looking for a good but not horribly expensive GPS unit. Found the Magellan FX324 Color. It is a new unit but I wonder if anyone else has an opinion. Sport Fishing gave it an excellent review. It has the following features:

-Visible in direct light, even with shades.

-External antenna (has the internal as well, no extra charge).

-Full numeric keypad (as previously advised).

-5" Diagonal color display (I don't want a huge GPS to compete for space with the Lowrance LCX16ci)

-Accepts BluNav Charts and has memory cards for storing routes/waypoints.

Found it for under $700 plus under $200 for the BluNav chart.

Thoughts? Thanks guys.

Hi Crabait,
you can get it here for under $600.

I use a Navman sleeve on my Ipaq along with Maptech digital charts. Not as waterproof as what you are looking at, but very detailed.

I bought one this spring...I am very pleased...so far. No problems and it delivers all it promises. I particularly like the key board! I have not gotten the charts yet...the world chart that comes with it is not too detailed but it is adequate for my uses.

Looks like a great unit Crabbait.

The tidetable feature is a must along with the keypad.

Now I want one! :depressed:

NEWS FLASH: (Ok, bragging just a little), I got it on E-bay, new, from West Marine for $476 and $10.50 shipping! The thing lists at $799. I was the only bidder!

Here is the trick: This GPS unit was on the E-bay Motors site under Parts and Accessories: Boats and Watercraft. I found it by doing a google search on Magellan FX324 and clicking the E-bay link. Never would have found it otherwise and that is probably why no one else did either.

I hope this helps anyone looking for good electronics. Roll over some rocks!

Same exact thing happened with my Immersion Suits. Got listed under some funky section in Ebay and nobody bid on it, well, nobody but me!
