Default Downrigger Cable

I need to recable 4 Penn 600's. I was think of adding onto the 150 - 200 feet already on 'em with a crimp. I plan to add about 250 feet to each. I beleive the bigger diameter on the spool will increase the pickup time/speed. What do you think?

Where is the best deal for 1000 to 1200 feet of downrigger cable? (150 pound test ain't it?)

I am not sure that is all that good of idea.....you may want to put the new line on first.

I have replaced cable a couple of times and the strange thing is I had two cables break the same day in the same place....they only last so long.

I went to 300 lbs test and 350 ft, but now I run 15lbs balls to compensate. If the crimp fails you will be out a ball....just something to consider.

Good luck....I bought cable at Englund in newport.
