Default Where to go for Chinook???

I thought I would give salmon fishing a try this weekend, but was debating about going out of Depoe Bay or Winchester Bay. Has anyone heard any recent reports from Winchester? Are they out and deep there too? From what I can gather, folks are fishing in 200-300 feet of water near the bottom. Is that about right?
thanks for your help,
steve

Unfortunately Fishmstr, this time of year there haven't been many people out for salmon except the commercials and of course they can fish the deep stuff. There are a few reports that have been posted over the last couple of weeks of people getting them in the upper levels of water so it's one of those "don't know till you get there" kind of deals.

Sounds to me like the majority of sport catches have been out of Garibaldi but I think it's just a numbers game and more people have gone out of Garibaldi looking for salmon.

In Oregon, maybe PO. In California Ft. Bragg. I would choose Ft. Bragg. Should be wide open chinook fishing. Terrafin shows major upwelling from Pt. Arena to Cape Mendocino. Cape Blanco also shows the typical spring upwelling there.

Corrirod is dead on. Upwelling this spring has been dead except for this last week. Hardly any krill out there for the fish to eat.

Chinook salmon fishing was also red hot out of Eureka, CA prior to this last blow.
